Alright, I haven't read the other posts beyond this, but I'm hoping for the same.

So like I asked and like you so carefully avoided, as usual. . do you think it's a coincedence that Iran is being more cooperative after Bush got back in office?

I'll answer it. Yes. The Mullahs have nothing to gain by being cooperative with GW. In fact, quite the opposite, they have a lot to gain by opposing vehemently GW, or any American administration.

The reality of the Iran situation is that we're a sideline party. After the Iraq War and failure to prove with any acceptable reason what we did was right, we've lost a lot of our role as mediators/negotiators/middle men. Europe is leading the Iran talks.

I said the EU, I know who's leading the talks. I asked if it's a coincidence that the talks started working since Bush got reelected. Iran told the EU to piss up a rope and said they're not going to stop their enrichment of uranium. Then, magically they changed their minds. . it's not like the EU offered any new significant incentives.

The Mullahs have everything to lose, it's not a question of what they can gain.

On a side note, Japan found a Chinese sub in their waters yesterday. That could get interesting.

Sorry, I still disagree. The Mullahs don't have anything to lose. They know the Middle East people won't tolerate another invasion, and they know there'll never be a Security Council vote for invasion. That negates the suggestion you're making that other rulers fear GW. There's no way that people who are ideologically motivated are going to be militarily kowtowed by GW. They know it will only create more terrorists and bring US troops they can actually kill off.
