Hey everybody. Been a member since Jan. and this is my first post. I know, I know.......I suck!!! Anyway, I'm wondering if someone can help me out here.

I own a 98 Gixxer 750 with a 20k on the odometer. I've been having a problem getting the bike to go into neutral when stopped. If the bike is still rolling it pops right in with no problem. But when its stopped, its a royal PITA!! Anyone got any suggestions as to what the probelm is and what the fix for it is? Thanks in advance!!

Ok tell us your habits. Clutch in at a stop: Four fingers or two. HAve you tried to let the clutch out just enough to drag the motor a little THEN clutch back in and shift? And do you downshift through the gears coming to a stop or do you wait till youve stopped, THEN shift down?

I always downshift when slowing down, i never wait till I'm stopped. At a stop I usually have 4 fingers on the clutch, unless at a redilght. Then I'll put it in neutral and let off the clutch altogether. I haven't tried letting the clutch out a little, I'll have to give it a shot. Sitting still, sometimes. I can bump the throttle a little and it'll slip in to neutral.

My SV does this at times, I find the best way to fix it is to snap back on the throttle a little and the tranny slips right in to neutral.

My friend has a '99 GSX-R 750, my first day riding he went with me. I stopped at a light, and couldn't get my 98 GSX-R 600 out of neutral. He explained to me that the bike seems to do that. He gave me the same advice that you discovered. Rolling the bike in place a bit seems to engage it again. He didn't know why it does it, so maybe it's a common thing amongst GSX-Rs?

I find this more common when my bike is off (as in not running). The only reason I know this is because I have been paying closer attention to it sense this thread.
