Ok so im going to look at a 03 GSXR to buy. It only has 3000 miles and he had droped it once in a parking lot when it was parked and he siad its only a few scratches. But what i would like to know is, is there anything that is traditionaly that goes wrong with this years bike that i should pay extra atention to when I go and look at it?
Thanks
Kevin

cant go wrong w/ a gixxer, so long as you know the guy whom owned it before you took care of it. since it was dropped and has such low milage im sure the guy was just a newbie whom couldnt handle the machine, but you dont know what he could have done to the bike. theres a good thread on here about buying used bikes, i think OTB or tator posted it, if i have time i'll look it up for you, or you can do it yourself.

look at the scratches on the bike if the bike was dropped... if there are any scratches on the frame and you do a little drop of your own and go through your insurance company they may total the bike out. a buddy of mine bought a bike with a good size scratch on the frame and then cracked a fairing when the bike tipped in the garage and they totalled it due to the scratch on the frame. the cost of the repair one side fairing and replacing the frame was over teh value of teh bike...

the other thing I always do to is look at the lower engine. Any thing that is sticking out of the fairings. 9 times out of 10 if it has been damaged good then the only thing people fix are the fairings. the cheaper of the of the two.

just a heads up if it is scratched up good too. then you might want to second think that.

:iagree: Right...and pay attention to if those same engine cases LOOK like they've been repaired. Maybe a shady paint job on them...but the scratches are still there. Look at it real close.
