I am going to buy my first sportbike when i return from iraq in a month and a half. i have only owned one other motorcycle which was a honda shadow VLX deluxe 600 ccs. money is not a factor in deciding which bike to get, simply put fixing iraq with the united states marine corps has provided me with enough money for a brand new bike. let me know what you think which is better being that i am a rookie to bikes in gerneral.

I would say the 750 over the 1000. The 1K is alot of machine for a rookie to the sport! Heck the 750 is alot, but as long as you have control, that is a big factor!!!

Beyond that, ROCK ON over there guy!! You guys are doing a great job and I thank you for your efferts!! Watch your 6! :pat: :dthumb: :pat:

How tall & how much do you weigh?

Both of those bikes are allot for a rookie (as you stated)
Ton of power difference form the VLX to the GSXR 600 my less the 750 or 1000.

Just pick what you feel most comfortable with testosterone in check.
You are surviving a tour don't come home and give that life away!
:pat: Thanks for being there on the call of duty! :pat:

Id say a big part of the choice is how much throttle controil u htink u have... Like he said.. dont go to iraq only to come home and kill yourself on it...

But I've heard A LOT of good aobut the new GSXR750.......its supposed to be one of the best bikes of 05 period. Plus it doenst have that rediculous 2-stroke looking exhaust of the 05 1000. Both are great bikes... the 750 is less common and is basically just as fast....unless u plan on a freeway roll one race with a 1000, you got as good of a chance as the 1000 if u ride it right.

so im gonna say 750, but soit on each for a while and see whats comfier.. that should be the biggest factor in buying beofre brand even. If its not comfy u wont like it and ride it as much as u wanted to before u buy it.

Both are awsome and you couldn't go wrong with either ..That being said the 750 would be my choice . Light , nimble, and power everywhere , just not the overwellming power of a 1000. For a new rider as long as you respect it youll be fine .Once you get use to the bike you can turn your right rist more .The gsxr750 is a bike you'll be hard to outgrow. This is coming to you from a HONDA guy, so i'm not talkin up my bike . The 750 is just that good .No other brand even makes a 750 to compete with it ,it's that good. So get the 750 & some good gear and wear the gear every time you ride. Hope this helps you out .. Good luck over there & when in doubt shoot first ask questions later .!!

Later Super .

the 1k will seem like a beast to you for about a month and then you'll get use to it. i started out with a 600 and now i'm wishing i got the r1. i'll be in iraq in the summer, maybe i'll pay off the 6 and get the 1. :pat:

I Just bought a GSXR 750 i was inbetween an r1 and a cbr 929, I chose the gixer cause i got a sweet deal on it. I knew the other would be a waste of power, becasue it woudl be a while before I started to dig into it. On the ride home it was obvious right away how much lighter and more nimble the biek was for me. and believe me there is PLenty of power. If money was no factor, i most likey woudl have gone with the r1 though, but now im glad i didnt

I missed this comment.
I've been ridding 1000 for years. They keep getting faster and faster out of the box. I still think it is a scary beast.

I don't even remember typing that. Cool about the 750. With the money you saved you can mod it out heavy!
