We went riding today in the North Georgia mountains. There were 10 bikes in our group; 2 identical 2004 GSXR 1000's with the chrome windscreens, 2 F4i's, mine and Vandamme 23's, a Gixxer 750, an old Katana 750, a nice chromed out ZX-9 (the slowest rider in the group), an FZR 600, an R6 and a 2004 R1.

It was a perfect day to be riding. The temps were heating up, so the tires were sticking great and the route that we took didn't have to many bikes or cars on it.

Well, we get up the mountain and were on our way down the back side and we were going to turn around and ride back up and down the same route and then head home. We stopped at one of the scenic overlooks and marveled at how beautiful the day was and that we were having a good time.

Not a half mile from the overlook, I was in about 6 place with one of the Gixxer 1000's in front of me. He was behind the guy on the Gixxer 750 who's a d*mn good rider. I imagine that that the 1000 was trying to keep up with the 750 and went into a corner too hot. As I was coming around the corner behind him, I saw him go off the road and the bike flipped about 3 times and shattered into pieces and he was just rolling around the trench next to the road!

I quickly get stopped, as do the other guys coming up from behind, and run back to check on him. He was saying that he was alright but he was just lying the trench. Well, he was OK, but the bike was all f*cked. The front fairing, speedo, and fenders were all gone and the rear cowl was shattered. The left fairing was scratched and the shifter knob had broken off.

After making sure he was OK and cracking a few jokes about it, the bike was well enough to start, ride straight and ride home! We even stopped to have lunch. Of course, it shortened our day, but we were glad the guy was OK.

Yeah, he didn't have any headlight or brake lights, but the bike rode straight.

The one time I didn't take my camera with me and this happens. I guess that says something about Suzuki durability.
