Has anyone tried this???

I was just reading in my Sport Rider mag about not having to use the clutch to shift. Saying that if you let of the throttle a small amount and in a quick movement, upshift. Sounds good and all but I would like to get someones thoughts that has tried this before I try it. Any thoughts will be great and if you know someone that has tried it let me know what they thought as well. :)

I do it all the time. Anybody that races or even stunts will tell you to do it. Many of your racers do it in both directions. Up shift and down shifts. Once you get your RPMs up high enough it will up shift right into the next gear with little effort. If it doesn't want to come out the gear your in with little foot effort then the R's aren't in the right spot. Also, you don't want to come off the throttle much if any on the up shifts.
I do it all the time. The lazy way to do it when you're cruising is to bring your RPMS up just beyond your regular shift point. Put pressure on the shifter, and when the engine RPMS fall to the point of the transmission RPMS, it'll click right into gear.
Yeah, I do it sometimes on upshifts, works great. Downshifts I have not been able to figure out the revs yet and just use the clutch. Besides, I like to blip the throttle on the way down anyway to keep from getting the rear out of line. :bike:
I normally shift at 7-8000rpm's. So would I take it higher and then let off the throttle a bit and shift or poss no letting off the throttle and power shift?? :)
when you get your RPM's alittle higher than normal shift point, start to put pressure on the gear shift..alittle bit at a time..when you hit the right point, she'll fall right into the next year..tractor trailer drivers do it alot too..saves all that double clutching...

but yeah, i've done, once you get the feel for it..its cool.
Gave it a try today and I think I will be doing it like that for now on. Great tip I found and thanks to all for your advise as well. :)
it does at first..instinct makes you wanna reach for the clutch everytime, but after you do it for awhile..it'll become second nature too....just make sure it doesnt become too second nature that you try it at low speeds.
You dont really need the clutch. The gears and Snycros can handle the little bit of punishment. I had a bike with almost 30k on it and only used the clutch to start and stop. Never had a problem. Just ran good oil and changed it @ 2500 miles.

See...I knew I should have asked you. LOL :)
