the whole pipe or just the can? if you run it with the whole pipe on you can warp valves when you shut it off.
WHAT ?!??!!?!?? You'll have to translate that to English. Irregardless of whether you have just the can off or the full system....How could you warp your valves?

This is true of any engine, the exhaust allows internal parts such as valves to cool slowly, if theres nothing to hold in the heat air can rush in and actually warp the valves. Ask a mechanic, you wouldnt think it could but ive seen it happen.

Thats long enough to heat things up, and im sure you were reving the piss out of it cuz you liked the loud sound. If you did no damage consider yoursely lucky, head work is not generally that cheap.
