OK So I bought a Jardine SLip on pipe for my GSXR on ebay. The guy send me the band to go around it and everything I thought I needed. I took the old pipe off with no prob. I noticed the new pipe did not have the studs in it, so i could mount it. On the old bike the studs bolted into the pipe and there are four nuts that mount it to the header. I tried to remove the old studs but no dice, I didnt want to strip the tread so I jsut put the stock pipe back. What do I need to do here, buy new studs, force the others out?,

Pics, You need pictures of studs???? There like bolts except they have treads on both sides :bonk: :bonk:

So let's see...

Your stock mid pipe has holes
Your stock muffler has studs

The aftermarket muffler has holes

Correct?


So how do you get 2 holes to match up is the problem?

Maybe a few ladies could help with that! :lol:


This may be a simplistic idea...but couldn't you just go buy some small bolts and nuts and BAM????!!!!!!??????

To get the studs off, first spray some PB Blaster on the stud. Then screw two nuts onto the stud. Tighten them together to each other. Then unscew the lower nut, which will unscrew the stud. But the slip-on has holes, not threaded holes? Do they need to be tapped, or nut and bolt like gasman says?

I would take the pipe to the hard ware store and get stainless bolts. Don't worry about getting the old studs out. :2cents:

From what Ive experienced, most aftermarket pipes dont use studs, they use hex bolt/screws or something similar, to fasten to the pipe. Most OEM cans have the studs built in them and have nuts to fasten them on. It sounds like the seller either forgot to give you the Jardine bolts or just never had them

Do what jeeps and Gas Man said and go to a hardware store and bring the can to match up some bolts. I have had to do that a few times with my bike for certain fasteners. If that doesnt work, find a Bike shop and see if they have some bolts lying around they could let you "borrow". Just make sure the threading is correct so you dont strip the inside threads of the can because that would suck.
How many bolts do you need?

Just make sure you get Stainless steal or at least grade 8 bolts.
That cheap galvanized crap will break or corrode so that you can never get them out with out breaking the head off.

Thanks everyone, Ill head to the hardware store tommorow. Its not like there is a huge rush, I cant ride the thing since its 14 out. I guess i can just rev the crap out of it in my garage

Went to the Hardware store and bought 4 bolts, slapped the pipe on the bike and started the Bi^%$ up.... Sounds wicked, nice deep rumble that bites when you get on it. Wish the snow would go away so I could actually ride the thing outside of the garage
