I honestly don't ever need anything from "Santa" if I want something I just buy it myself. I would prefer if nobody buys me anything... all I want for x-mas is to see my immediate family!

We buy what we want for the kids. We draw names for the adults to stay in the American family tradition.

With friends parties we make a game out of it.

We all buy a gift set at a $ amount.
Put every thing in the middle of the room.
Draw numbers for who picks first gift.
First person picks a gift and open it.
Second person picks a gift and opens it.
Second person decides if he/she wants to keep it or steal/trade for first gift.
Then continue till every body has a gift.
After you have a gift stolen/traded five time you can bail or stay in the game but, once you bail. You cant come back.

The best number is last. That person is able to chose from all gifts still in game. It gets real fun when a guy gets women's perfume or a girl gets a box of drill bits. Its always most fun with spiked eggnog.

puhleeeez! i get one day to ask for something large that i can't buy with my own $$$ (because mothers don't get paid). it's not being greedy. i do a heckuva lot around here. i deserve a treat. i'm all for that family gathering [email protected] too, but can't we do that anytime of the year as well? i also love buying for my kids and my man too. we all deserve nice things once in a while, right? now bring on the gifts... :dthumb:

I have a some things for the bike on my list but I'll just buy them myself. If I asked the wife to get them, she would most likely screw it up. We're not really into buying tons of stuff for immediate or extended family members, we buy primarily for our kids. My wife and I keep it simple. She wants a puppy which she'll be getting in a few weeks and I'll be getting a few PS2 games I have on my list of "must buys".

But, if you want real presents, like jewelry...you have to be a "bad" girl...

Santa's dead to me or at least he sort of goes away when you aren't married, have no kids, and live alone. I will probably buy myself a pipe, probably a slip-on. Any recommendations for a make and model? I was thinking a yoshi, but don't know which model is better.

Don't be lonely for the Holidays! Only you can make a difference for yourself. Don't wait for someone to come to you, you go to them.

And forget about "Santa" if gifts are a sign of the Christmas spirit, it's about being with people who care, wether from work or your social group. And since you ride, I know you know at least one other person who rides. So why not ask them to join you for some "Cheer"?

Make it an occassion of fellowship and friendship, that's what Christmas is all about.

But if you're an atheist, consider the occassion an opportunity for your good character and kind temperament to show itself with your collegues. Congeniality is not a religious requirement, but part of the social human structure.

In addition, this is the time of year where you can give a lady a gift just because and she would be touched and impressed at your kindness. If nothing else, take advantage of the good feelings the Holidays bring out in people! :h10:

I won't be lonely, my gf and her family will make sure of that. I was just joking about the santa thing. I was just saying that without kids around, he just isn't important to the holiday anymore. Doesn't bother me, I never liked his fat *** anyway. If I ever have kids, I will probably not do the santa thing. I will still exchange gifts with them, but not the whole fat man anonmously gives gifts throughout the world. I am christian if you are wondering.

Ya more of less... christmas is for kids as far as presents. At different family parties we do the same thing... at one we do the draw a name... and the other we draw the numbers. The only difference is that the first guy is the best... cause he gets last pick. Only fair sense he had nothing else to look at. So after the last guy goes the first guy has the chance to trade again.

Lets see for the big gift, the parents agreed to a leather jacket (no more yellow power ranger look for me :D ) I have CD's, games, movies, and Motorcycle magazine subscriptions on the list too, oh and a Dremel. I could care less what I get. Since I have started dating my girlfriend, the gift of giving is much more enjoyable for me anymore (honestly).

The kids in the family (meaning my brother and I, The little lady and her 3 brothers and close friends/wives). So out of the 9 of us, we draw names and set the limit so we dont buy a crapload of gifts.

My girlfirend and I always have this great argument where I always out-gift her every year. I do it out of the kindness of my heart, but I also like to see her all mad because her gift is "inferior" (call me twisted :D ). This year I went with an Iriver 5GB MP3 player (she and I are anti Ipod). Marko and I seem to be in the same boat, because I am planning to do the dumb thing that men do with the one knee and shiny thing when they really really like a woman. In the 4 years of dating, we have talked about it, but we never discussed when or anything, so I am hoping its going to be a little suprising (and hopefully she doesnt log in to TWF). I have been pricing out the rocks and I have to say thank god Im selling the dirtbike. Santa is hooking up the girlfriend this year. You can literally see my wallet getting thinner for me this year. Its all worth it though.
