Ok, so I'm going to take the class from Harley Davidson in 3 weeks. I plan on getting (closing the deal) my bike that weekend from a guy I met on thse boards :twfrox: I've never driven a bike before, I've ridden before, but that was a while ago. I don't know what to expect, I don't know how it's going to feel, I don't know if I'll be able to trust the "cages" on the streets, I don't know how the bike will react to me, I don't know how I'm going to react to the bike, I don't know how my nerves will handle the situations. All I do know is whenever I see a guy on a crotch-rocket, I get filled with envy, and perhaps a smidge of adrenaline. Is there anything ya'll can add that might calm my nerves?

BTW: So I saw a really hott chick driving her own 750 GSXR the other day.... I think I got a stiffy in record time....as well as I almost hit the car next to me b/c of the dizzy spell I got from the lack of blood to the brain *wink*

:welcome: to TWF
I think the class will answer most of you questions.
You should never trust the cars around you. Only time and mileage will settle you nerves. I find that ridding actually settles my nerves after a bad day.

I don't know if you did any breathing while you typed that post...

All you have to do is Trust yourself realize what you can do and what you can't, Oh and relax.

Next question is why are you taking the safety course at a Harley shop?? Wasn't there a community Collage/school offering the class cheaper... I know here the HCC offers the Exact same course at 100$ cheaper... of course you're not riding a Harley...but does that really make a difference??

:iagree: Welcome! KnightRyder9 :twfrox: and everyone here is awesome about helping out with any questions you may have!! As a new rider myself, the best advice I can offer is when you are going into a curve or turn, LOOK AHEAD!! That one always seems to get me and my other newbie friends! And read the newbie guide in the general section! It has lots of helpful tips!

I am taking the class too in a few weeks, but I am trying to get all the practice I can on some little roads around my house...it is really helpful in boosting my confidence!

:luck:

It's a GS-500. I read around the boards and other sources and it seemed to be a good choice for a first bike. Plus it was cheap enough for a college student like myself.
You are right! It is a great choice for a starter bike. I  you for making such a good decision!
