Whitley County Man Accused Of Stealing State Police Car
(Fort Wayne, IN 5/10/05)--A Whitley County man is now facing an auto theft charge after stealing a State Police cruiser and leading officers on a chase.
When Trooper Jason Ward attempted to break up a fight in Whitley County, he ran after 22-year old Robert Bonham who doubled back and stole Ward's squad car.
Fort Wayne Police later spotted Bonham near Jefferson Pointe, and chased him onto I-69 where officials say he was thwarted by the summer construction season near Goshen Road.
Bonham was then taken to the Whitley County jail.
In addition to the auto theft charge, he faces several other felony charges out of Dekalb and Steuben counties. (Edited by Paula Hinton)

October Trial Date Set For Accused Ax Murderer
(Fort Wayne, IN 5/10/05)--A Fort Wayne man accused of killing his roommate with an ax is now scheduled to stand trial this fall.
A judge yesterday set October 25th as the start of 45-year old Michael Scott’s trial.
Scott is charged with murdering 49-year old John Miller at a halfway house on East Jefferson Boulevard last March.
Police say Scott had been smoking crack cocaine at the time, then drove the victim's car to Indianapolis, and later turned himself in to police. (Edited by Paula Hinton)
