How a wife "should" act

A married man left work early one Friday afternoon. Instead of going home, however, he squandered the weekend (and his paycheck) partying with the boys.
When he finally returned home on Sunday night, he ran into a barrage of epithets from his wife. After a couple of hours of nagging and berating, his wife asked "How would you like it if you didn't see me for a couple of days?"
"That would suit me just fine!" the man said.
Monday went by, and the man didn't see his wife. Tuesday went by with the same result. Wednesday went by with the same result.
Thursday, the swelling went down a bit and he could see her a little, just out of the corner of his left eye.

I was a just a kid in '55 and I lived in a 64-family apartment house in New York City. I knew every family in that building, but nobody acted like that. Even back then, many of the women worked. I remember how fasinated I was to watch suburban life on Leave It To Beaver.

The difference between Friends and Mates (in the non-sexual, aussie connotation).
1. A woman goes out, and stays out all night. On arriving home, she tells her husband she stayed at a friends place. The husband rings 10 of her best friends. None of them know anything about it.
2. A man goes out, and stays out all night. On arriving home, He tells his wife he stayed at a mates place. She rings 10 of his mates. 8 of them confirm that he spent the night at their place, 2 of them swear he's still there!

My Grandmother was that way. She worked all her life, but damned if she didn't do the dinner thing, the kids thing, the husband stuff...She talks about some of the stuff to this day. 87 years old, four bedroom house, insists on living alone, cleans it top to bottom everyday, cooks for herself, does own shopping...everything.snadamo said:
