How many of you advocate the MSF course(s) but haven't taken one?

Count me as one. I was registered, then had to go out of town and cancelled. That's not to say I couldn't learn a whole lot from the course.

Well, I took the class out in Utah, but to be honest, it doesn't do much to help a person ride well. The class will give you the basics on riding and is a good start for beginners that don't know a thing about riding a motorcycle. However, they need to be more strict with the testing procedure and more detailed in the classroom portion. I think the best things to promote better riding are experience and practice. Above all, people need to take their time, start out on a bike that is not too big, and practice the basics instead of just "jumping in" and riding.
