how do i go about starting to learn how to pop wheelies? i want to learn but dont want to flip the bike. any opionions?
KNow that it's illegal but if you insist, the best thing is to have a few friends who knows how to do it to show you. Since you are in Sacramento, you may want to check out BARF for tips and local fellow riders.

If you don't want to flip the bike. Don't try them. :2cents:
Do a search of this forum and you can find several threads on this. :luck:
:iagree:

Also, how many years and miles do you have under your belt in riding?

under the belt in riding = 1yr back in 1996. i used to ride a 1996 honda cbr 600. but i havent rode in 10yrs, so i guess you can erase what i used to know since the bikes now adays are 100 times faster and more powerfull then they used to be.

I alway tell peeps, First practice a twist on and off with tap of rear break over and over and learn to speed shift, do this on flat ground. This will train the brain to stop a flipover and keep your wheelie up.
Then practice wheelies up hill like over passes and such.
This allows you to reach your fulcrum (sp) point without the front end feeling as high as on flat graound. It provides comfort. Be safe and good luck.

Don't worry about what they can do and you cant. That's what gets people hurt and makes my insurance rates go up.

If you try to ride above your ability. You will be watching the tricks from your cage or standing in a lot some where because you and your bike will be busted up. :2cents:

Her is a recent thread Click about riding over your ability. Its directed towards cornering but applies to any ridding. I'm not trying to be your mother or any thing. I just hate to see new riders hurt over stupid things. Its dangerous enough out there as it is. :luck:

I have to agree with Jeeps. I think you're a newbie to the sportbike riding if not riding in general. I know we have been talking about stoppies in the other thread but you really need to get more comfortable with the bike and your ability before you start trying all of this crazy stuff!

I nkow exactly how you feel. I am beginnier also, and ride with more experienced people. Whats even harder is that they taunt me to put it up on one all the time. I just tell them im not comfortable enough yet and dont feel like wadding up the bike yet. Personally, I dont think I know the physics and my riding abililty well enough to start doing wheelies, and was going to wait until I get out and ride more. I figure the one time I try it out when Im pressured into it, is the one time the bike goes crash and I play superman for a few seconds.

Im close, but not there yet. Id wait until you break the bike in at least. but to each his own, do what you want. :luck: :dthumb:
