Does anyone know the HP for 2000 thru 2005 GSXR 600 ???? thanx
Er, well ... the '00 is the last year with carbs, makes probably around 95HP on a good day. The 01-03 has FI, usually making around 100HP.

The 04-05 has some ... issues. We haven't seen one make 100HP on our dyno. Most of them with a full system and PCIII are barely making 100HP. (The one Cycle World got this year for their HP comparo issue was making 93hp!)

WOW! That is horriable! The 2005 is going to be bad a$$ from what I heard.
Yea, our friend got rid of his older GSXR 600 that was making a little over 100 (with some mods) to get an '04 thinking it was going to be better and have more hp. NOT! He is greatly disappointed, and I don't blame him!

The Gixxer is a lighter bike then the previous years right? That would disappoint me if a older gixxer had more HP than a new one. I always do my research to the max before I buy and I shop around before I buy.

He bought the '04 when it was first released to replace his '01 racebike ... we hadn't had another one in the shop to know (his was the first), and none of the mags had done any dyno comparisons. Everyone just assumed the '04 would be better.

Wouldn't Suzuki state their stock HP when they introduce the new bike?

Published factory horsepower numbers are pretty much meaningless. They're measured at the crank (prior to the drive train), under perfect atmospheric conditions, from a development motor that has perfect tolerances. Kinda like how Factory SuperSport bikes in the AMA are "Just like what you buy from your dealer" (not).

The motor you get from the dealer (off the assembly line) is not going to have the same HP even if you measured it at the crank under the same conditions. You'll generally see a variance of about 5% across a single model year - get a good motor, you get big HP. Get a bad one ... well, sorry for your luck :)

Just the way it goes - it's the same with any mass-produced internal-combustion motor (cars, bikes, even lawn motors for that matter). Production tolerances are the reason.
