Ok, really stupid question but I mistakingly grabbed the wrong pump at the gas station cause I wasn't paying attention. I put like 1gal of 87, stopped it and then put the rest of 91 in which was approximately 2.5gals.

Is this bad? Or will it do what it does on a car and just mix, burn out and that's it?

Run it through. I think its just like putting 89 in your tank, the mixture n' all. Loss of performance likely but not terrible harmful. Youre in break in period right?

Also there is a whole Gas thread on here that will answer all the gas questions you never knew to ask. Now to find it... :dthumb:

Owners manual said 91 or better. That's why I ask. I forgot to read it but then when I was putting in the gas, I figured that the higher octane would be better for the engine, that's why I stopped and switched it.

When i bought my r1 the dealer filled the gas tank...
Getting use to a new bike, whenever i tried to start off from a stop i had to rev it more than normal.I first thought it was just the tall first gear a 04 r1 has..and thought that was crappy, until i needed gas.I filled it with 93 octane and the bike started normally from then on..The moron at the dealership must have put some low octane fuel in it....

You'll probably get some pinging/knocking, but that's it.

Don't mess with Octane booster, it's shyt. If you're going higher octane, get it from a pump. But, you should never need/use higher than 93. Since you're so far south and it'll be hotter than hell this summer, run 93. When it cools back down (low 90s and less or so) go back to 91.

I was only suggesting octane boost for this tank of gas that he thinks he messed up. Alltought, I don't think he has anything to worry about... but if he must rest his mind I offered that suggestion!

On a constant use.. octane boost is crapola!!

Roger Wilco Gas Man. I didn't put the Octane boost in and don't think I'm gonna. I only put in 1gal or less of 87 and then filled the rest (like 3-4gals) of 91 so it should be ok. At least I didn't do a horrific mistake like DIESEL!

Good to hear that you didn't add that in(meaning DIESEL). Adding the boost would have been fine and not still ok. You didn't put that much 87 in so no worries there. And if you would have filled it up with the 87, all you'd had to do is run it out and add 91 or higher. One time is not going to make your bike run bad. :dthumb:
