im sure someone here can relate, its been 10 years or so since i had a sportbike and now im dying for one again and can't seem to kick this, but now i'm 38 years old! is anyone here this old and still ride sportbikes? i don't like the cruiser types so its a sportbike or nothing. but i feel ridiculous , is this normal? i really like the new 600rr or the yamR6 still can't decide on this.
i know 38 is'nt that old but for a sport bike you have people saying midlife crisis or you need to grow up or you have a family, bla bla bla, any input would sure be nice, and here comes the weekend its time to go look at bikes set on them then leave...the weekends are really tough! man i need help!

I'm not quite that old yet, but I feel like I will ride sportbikes as long as I'm able too.
Both the R6 and 600RR are really great bikes either way. I would lean towards the R6 myself, but i'd probably go with what ever fit best in the budget, and the one that feels the best.:luck:

I'm in my mid-fifties and I'm out there riding when it's too cold for the younger guys. Who cares what the neighbors say.

Most of the new bikes are pure race bikes. Take the 2005 R6. It has nothing below 6,000 rpm and seems happier at 15,000 rpm than it does at 8,000. Great on a track, but not much fun in traffic. I would look at an older bike like a Honda 600 F2 or F3. They are more all-around sportbikes.

:welcome: Speedy38 ok ok... you can ommit the 3...for now...

I know many sportbike riders much older than you. Don't worry about it! Get what you want. Sense you have rode before and you have a family I'm sure we won't have to preach to you about keeping a level head... or will we?

The 600RR is a sweet bike. It will have the power or a 1100cc bike from back in the day when you last rode and a suspension that is out of this world in camparison.

When you catch the fever like that... the only thing you can do is sign the dotted line! Get the bike!! :dthumb:

Stick around. I promise :twfrox:

I did see a new Tiger at Hooters Bike night last night...I could see myself on that...or a KTM adventure...

I'm sorry I bore you; I was responding to another's question about "Is it normal at my age (38) to want a sportbike?" My answer was to merely illustrate A. I'm older and think it's ok; and B. I went a little overboard in my enthusiasm for fast bikes. Sorry you didn't get it. Sheesh!

Lill late but, I'm 35, started street ridding on sport bikes in the late 80's and have had a little of every thing in-between (except a Goldwing) from Gixxers to HD's. There will most likely always be a Sport bike in my stable.
