...how can I tell for sure? I put over 200 miles on the bike tonight, but in the last mile home, the bike felt like it was almost gutless. What exactly can I do to see if it's the clutch? What else could be causing the lack of power? Of course, I could just be imagining things, too. I'm going riding again tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to tell for sure. Hell, the bike only has 915 miles on it, the damn clutch better not be slipping.

That sucks. I'd wait until tomorrow to see if it does it again. If it does then you might have to be all over the warranty people.

Well you must consider that you're imaging things...

Then just make sure that when you hit the throttle hard...make sure it's going and not revin!!!

The thing that sucks is that the clutch isn't warranted because it's a wear item, like brake pads. If it slips, then they'll say I was doing something wrong. Uh, not in 1000 miles, I wasn't. Hopefully I was just imagining it on that last mile home.

yeah, lets hope that. what were you doing when you thought it was slipping. were you gunning it or just takin it easy? do you think you could of been in the wrong gear or something?

CM, is there any slack or play when you initially touch the lever, or is it pulled tight up against the perch? If it's the latter, more than likely you may be able to just add some slack to the cable via the adjuster. However, you may have glazed the plates because the clutch wasn't fully engaging.

You want a little under a 1/4" of play on the lever. Email us or call us if you need further help! You know where to find us. :)

The cable was the first thing I checked and it has the required amount of play. The first time I notice something, I was taking off from a stop sign and I thought my rear wheel spun (which it may have), but then later on down the road, I got on it and it just felt like it didn't have the power it had earlier in the night. Let's just hope I was tired and that I was in the wrong gear (I had been out for 9 hours, but not continuous riding). I'll know for sure tomorrow.

Most of the time when clutches start to slip, it will start at high rpms and work it's way down (on a high revving sport bike)...since you are handy, pull out the clutch and inspect the steels. If they have discoloration, clean them up with a red scotch brite pad (attached to a pneumatic wheels makes things even easier). Resurfacing the steels and reassembling the clutch should clear up the problem.

Hopefully, though, you were just tired. Let us know tomorrow how it goes. :)

Good luck Cap'n.. Hope its just your imagination.. 915 miles they should cover it - if it was me they would cover it or they would be covering a size 12 up their ass...

Well, I either imagined it or I was in the wrong gear, or something funky was going on last night. I just took the bike out for a quick 10 mile ride and didn't experience anything out of the ordinary. Hard to tell, but hopefully I don't ever notice it again. ;)

I've heard about some issues on new r1's having clutch problems seems like it was an assembly lube problem...They would clean it like kanwisch said and then soak them over night in oil .Guess i got lucky with mine.....

Maybe you should go out for another 9 hours and try it again. If it doesn't do it, then you know you're golden. :dthumb:

Your bike would be the first R6 I know of to have that problem.
I know the R1's had some issues like stated earlier.
The loss of power may have been an altitude thing.
I feel the change all the time ridding at elevations ranging from 2300 to over 5000ft. in the same day. :2cents:

That would be a good explanation if there were any altitude change in Indiana. :lol:

Yea; I don't think that 400 or 500ft would make much of a difference. :lol:
