I tested out the Icon Barrier gloves this morning in about 35-40 degree temp ride to work....its supposed to be a cool weather gloves and :disapp:

I thought my hands were frost bitten halfway through the 25 mile ride. But I must say I really didnt expect much from Icon & it was on close out . Stay away from these gloves if your looking for cool weather riding gloves.

These will be getting tossed when I get home today.

The Dennis Kirk site says it's "completely new technology". It goes on to describe the Kevlar material (Schoeller & Aramid) but makes no specific mention of the new technology. I'm curious what it is.

My experience with Icon has been favorable, sorry these didn't work out for you.

As far as cold weather gloves, I have yet to find anything that works well for a ride longer than 10 minutes. I don't like bulk and bulk=insulation=warmth so I just resign myself to the fact that after a cold weather ride I'll have ten frozen digits. :disapp:

I bought a pair of Firstgear Voyager gloves for the brutal Alabama winters (we might hit the low 30s). But these gloves are great, they are waterproof, very well insualated, and they have a little windshied wiper on the left index finger. I got mine new on ebay for $20. They are thick but not so bulky that I can't work the controls.

I've had pretty good luck with Icon, they do make a great cold weather glove called the Patrol, Dennis Kirk has them on sale right now. I would have bought some if I hadn't gotten such a good deal on the Firstgear ones.

The only option other than bulky gloves are electric, but they can sure be pricey. Good luck finding some guys...

I've had a good experience with my Alpine*. I've rode in 40-50 degree weather without a problem. They don't have gauntlets, so some cold air would sneak in from time to time.

I recently got new ones and don't use 'em anymore. They're like 70-75 new I think.

I really like the Icon Patrol, I would have bought some if I hadn't gotten the Firstgear so cheap. That is an awesome price on those, when I was looking at them they were over $80 they are a steal at $45. If they still have your size or you can find them somewhere else, I'd recommend them. LINK

The Icon Barrier gloves that ne1469 bought are a "cool" weather glove not a "cold" weather. I think they are more aimed at people needing a fall/early spring glove and don't want a bulky one.
