Ever since I had the carbs cleaned and the plugs replaced..instead of my Kat idleing at 1000rpm..it's been at about 1300 at an idle. I just assumed maybe the carbs were that bad that it was chokin itself done alittle before, and now that they are clean, with new plugs, it generally idle's higher ? It never shut off on me or anything before so that wasnt a problem. And adjusting the idle is no big deal of course, but just thought I'd ask if I should adjust it down, or just leave it as is.

My bike idles at around 1200-1500. Never had a problem with it there and I know alot of riders who do the same. It sould be fine. But as you said you know you can turn it down a bit if needed. It sounded great riding tonight so I would leave it alone. :dthumb:

After cleaning, they may have balanced and set the idle mixture on the carbs. When I do mine the idle goes up. My manual says the idle should be 1,000 to 1,100. I set it to 1,100 cause it sounds better, and idles better when cold.

would this cause it also, to give a slightly different throttle response ? when I rev up the rpm's to say like 5-6000 for example, when I let off the throttle, it takes just a hair longer to come down to idle than before. Its not that noticeable really, but just thought I'd ask.

Yes to your answer. And with just having all the work on the carb and new plugs as well, its all clean and running better then it did before hand. So there is nothing blocking it like before and allowing it to drop faster since it was cloged up a bit.

Yes, the cleaning and stuff done may do that. However, it is more likely that the mechanic adjusted your idle to what he or Suzuki believe it should be at. I know that when I had mine in for the water pump problem that the mechanic even adjusted my throttle just to be thorough...

If it bugs you then put it down a bit but if not, just leave it. Also, if you are going to adjust it, do it after riding or when it's up to a good running temp!
