c'mon guys! no posts about the greatest upset in college football otherwise known as the 2006 rose bowl. it wasn't a pretty game for the longhorns, but a win is a win after all. i am so glad to have finally witnessed the end of the USC era! with a game like that, how many think vince young will actually return to the horns next year? he's crazy if he does. boy, that kid can run! i've never seen a QB run the ball like that. outstanding. so let's hear it for the 2006 national champions - the texas longhorns. :here:

i can't wait until next year. does it get any better than this?!

If it doesn't involve a hockey puck, it doesn't catch my interest... but hey, I'm happy for you!

awww come on shan, you need to broaden your sports horizons!!!

Football is a sport I watch and will follow a bit. I couldnt name you all the positions on the field for offense/defense/special teams, but I have the general knowledge for the game.

Anyway, that game was AWESOME!!! The lead changed hands 5+ times!!! Vince Young QB ran for 200 yards!!! For the most part it was a clean game, and best of all USC LOST!!!! I cant stand them winning all the time. I grew up in Nor Cal, most of us dont like SoCal teams. As for colleges go Im an ASU fan, and they hate USC too!

Did you hear Lienart's comments at the end of the game? ..."We have a better team, but they won"... uhhhh last time I checked, who ever wins the championship game has the better team. But hey who cares? He was just crying like a baby.

And I must admit, I read the title to this thread and saw a female started it, and immediately clicked it without thinking... very clever Itgirl!

It was a good game, even for someone with no interest in either team. And if I was Young I would definitely get into the NFL as soon as I had the chance, because his style of play he could easily get injured in his final college season and blow a ride to the NFL.

Is he up for the NFL draft this year? If so, do you think this loss will hurt his chances of getting picked earlier?

Are you freakin kidding me? Do you even watch football? Those were two evenly matched teams and they showed that last night. That was about as far away as an upset as you can get. Anyone who watches football and doesn't listen to the tools at ESPN/ABC would understand this concept. It was a decent game, would of been better with overtime. Wouldn't even go as far to call it one of the top 50 games of all time, it was just decent.

Guess you have never seen Mike Vick play, have you? Vick is better rushing QB, I think VY will be along the same caliber as Aaron Brooks, mediocre. He isn't fast enough to do that in NFL. His throwing is Vickish though. He has an arm, but his accuracy is not so good. He puts a lot of balls where the receivers have to stretch out leaving them exposed and could get easily hurt against a pro defense.

get real! anyone that beats a team with a 34 game win streak is an upset. sure it wasn't as sweet as if it was an unranked team beating them, but i'll take what i can get. i'm glad that is the demise of USC. and i did comment on the way vince young RUNS, not throws. comapre that to someone else once.
everyone has their own opinion, but it seems like i am not alone in my thinking. i have watched the entire season, and i do have a mind of my own, believe it or not. i do draw my own conclusions. but thanks so much for your colorful commentary. i will continue to watch and call them as i see them.

that and I heard this is Texas' first champoinship bowl game win in 35 years? Pac 10 is a weak conference. The only other teams USC has to worry about in their conference is ASU and Oregon, and they were "below average" this year.

That was a good game of football...Im leaving it at that :yesnod:

A #2 team that was ranked at #1 for a week beating the #1 team is hardly the greatest upset in college football. Even the 34 win streak being snap is hardly one of a kind, OSU did it to Miami not but a couple years ago. Remember you didn't just say upset, you said greatest upset ever. It wasn't even close to the greatest upset ever.

Mike Vick, Marcus Vick, Randall Cunningham, that dude from West Virginia. There are a bunch of QBs that could easily out strip Young with the amount of protection Young had in the Rose Bowl.

ItGirl you beat me to the thread! I didnt see past halftime, but sportscenter filled me in. Beautiful game and USC lost! hurray! And i see you changed you avatar.... :) thanks for being classy about it. Atleast you could have taken some pride in LSU's cold blooded mauling of Miami (40-3)

GasMan... dont forget to put that pic in the Post WHore Thread, Sliced Bread thread, Bevis and Butthead Thread.... etc. :D

Four teams in top 25:whistle:
Vince Young hell of college QB, Pro's going to be another story.
Not many spread offences in pro's, for very good reason. Pro player much more quicker, plus Young is going to find out pro players are not affraid to tackle him like USC chickens.
Mike Vick found out this year what happens after your year of fame as scrambler:lol:
