I have seen this in an email, heard about it at work and seen it on a few forums now... What do you guys think?

Following the disaster in London . . . East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In Case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston.

The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone Address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency".

In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. Please do.

Please will you also email this to everybody in your address book, it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

i too was emailed with this. i have since done it, better safe than sorry. not only because of the london attacks though. my father was in a bad accident 2 years ago (he passed on from the injuries). luckily he had a list of phone #s in his wallet that the police used to contact the family. however, it wasn't specific enough. we ended up hearing about his crash from a friend of the family whom the police called first. i think it is just common sense to do this, and a good idea. any little bit of info. helps.

I read a thread on another forum about this. Someone posted that there may be a phone virus targeting ICE and I.C.E. Just in case this is true I put emergency in instead of ICE. Great idea. If it catches on maybe the phones will come with an emergency button some day so you wouldn't have to try to access the phone book to look for it.

I just don't understand any resistance to this - it is so simple it is stupid. why the ***** are you so god damn paranoid gasman? It is 1 fugging spot on your precious little phone memory - JUST DO IT. Not a big deal. It is a fantastic idea. If you bozos didn't resist so much and actually gave it a 1/2 a second thought you would understand it is a great idea whether it is mode of operation for all EMTs and in their fugging text books or not.. I think WOS should adopt it as our policy and then if one of us, God forbid, has a problem then the rest of us know how to call our emergency contact.. Why are people so fugging resistant? Is it going to kill you to program 1 number in your cell phone and take up 1/100000000000000000000000000000 of your memory jacktard? i decided i am going to carry around a baseball bat and when someone says something stupid i am going to beat them senseless.. it is the new MP i am sick of stupid mfrs plan.. my patience is gone and i feel violent.. who's first to get whacked by my bat? i need to put some nice blood stains on it.. go ICE or get beat!

Thanks...I keep mine in my wallet, I should keep one in the the bike, just incase my wallet ever become detactched from me. My friend that has the SV1000 in my sig had this happen a few years ago when he wrecked his GS500.
