Ricky Williams rejected a deal that would have allowed him to serve a four-game drug suspension this season and return to the NFL next year.

``Ricky indicated to me that he is no longer interested in resuming his career at this time,'' Williams' lawyer, David Cornwell, said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press on Thursday.

The 1998 Heisman Trophy winner needed to let the league know by Thursday so he could be moved from the retired list to the suspended list by the deadline. He would have served the suspension for the Miami Dolphins' final four games, starting Dec. 12 at Denver.

here's the rest

So much potential and so many opportunites and he has wasted them all. Possibly one of the best backs in the NFL and he :flush: down the drain. I wish I had the opportunity that he had because I would take it in a heartbeat. :cursin: :cursin: :cursin:

WTF....Now here is a guy that doesn't know what the hell he wants. I think it's just selfish that he won't accept the NFL's punishment. He should be lucky they didn't suspend him for a FULL YEAR! :screwy: Idiot! Take somemore drugs a-hole! :cursin: :bash:

Atleast barry sanders went out on respectable terms. He was just ready to retire, he was done with the game, he knew he was the best and that was ok with him. Ricky just has no clue what in the world he wants. An immature human being with too much money and no priorities. What a complete waste of talent. He could have been a hall of fame running back.
