Newbie, my first post. I looked in the forum main page and did not find a vendor forum. Looking for a USB quickshifter for a 2001 Suzuki GSXR 1000 and feedback from members on the product, installation, pros/cons and if any group pricing exists.

I'm located In Jacksonville, Fl

Thanks,

Rick

ive seen a few at the drag strip and my buddy runs one on his monster hyabusa, and its pretty neat, all he has to do is pin the throttle and the thing shifts itself with out him doing anything,,,,,all he has to do is launch the beast and hit the juice button and the thing shifts all on its own,,,,,,,,

i know he had some problems setting up the shift rpm with the power commander,,,,i think it works with the power commander...but thats to be expected.....he loves his so thats the only experience ive had with it

here's his set up....

That's not the Power Commander USB quick shifter (at least not by itself). That's an air shifter hooked up to quick-shifter and run by a programmable RPM trigger. We install those here at the the shop on some of the drag bikes we do.

The Power Commander quick-shifter add-on is just a software upgrade to the power commander and a momentary switch you install into your shift linkage. When you shift with your foot, the switch gets triggered, and the power commander cuts fuel for X amount of milliseconds (programmable, usually around 100ms) which unloads the tranny and allows you to move into the next gear. You never let off the throttle (the power-commander is doing that for you)

Just a thought...

Hey Jack,
If your Bud still has the old under tail (The one in the pic) would you see if he would consider making a fellow 'Busa rider a good deal ? Who know's, maybe he doesn't like to keep stuff cluttering up his shop ? Thank's,

It's basically the same thing as pre-loading the shifter with your foot, then chopping the throttle with your wirst for a split second, allowing the tranny to unload and shift.

The difference is, with my wrist ... I probably have about .5 - .7 seconds of reduced (not completely closed) throttle per shift. With the quick shifter, it's about .1 seconds. Add that up per shift per lap, and you see that it actually makes a difference in lap times. We find that the quick-shifter can reduce lap times by .25 - .5 seconds a lap, which is a big deal if you're running up front in expert/pro classes.

Thanks all for the replies. yes, it has a few mods...178-183 hp depending on dyno, day on open room dyno in our hot and humid (miserable Florida air) it really is only paradise here Nov-March the rest of time is too hot and muggy.

The bike has been the best of all the bikes I have owned and it was the first year model.

The CF bodywork is being re-gelled and clear coat and will add some more R1 blue to it. When its complete will post some side pics.

Maybe it will it make it into this magazine? The 04 solo tail gives it a completely different look and I'm going to do something with the front bulbs that will be a dual bulb setup. A UK company sells the fairing, but that will not fit my CF lowers. I do not have the link on this pc. But I beleive the light kit is direct drop in for the oem light backplate.

They also sale a kit you can put a 01/02 1k bodywork on a busa along with teh dual bulb setup. The upper bulbs can be indicators or high beams.

Not as good as I like-Yet. I have been riding for over 25 years but new too the drag strip less than 10 times. The strip has been a humbling learning curve...No NHRA license yet and that is required if you go over 120 in the 1/4. Local track is a dump "jaxraceways" and is 1/8 mile. My best there has been 6.46 most are 6.6-6.7 or worse...bad tire spin almost the entire track and I have played with all different combos with the swingarm. The shock is teh issue, even down to 10 lbs with a M/T it will spin. Lousy times, but high mph 115-117+ mph regardless of the time in the 1/8 mile with Lousy 60's high 1.7-1.8.

The clutch is a barnett CF and not the best setup for the strip. OEM is going back in. No slip with the cf clutch but it has held up well on the street numerous 1st-4th gear to the redline clutchless blackies! rollons etc.

I'm 45, it's a hobby and passion I enjoy. At this point in my life all that hard work is paying off. I'm competive but don't really care if I ever get the low 6.0 or upper 5.9's I know it is capable of. BTW it has 28k on it and now near 14k on the built motor. Still running strong :)
