They're already working on it. It will cost $3 trillion dollars just to get the short term solutions going.

Essentially people will have their own private accounts that they own. That way the gov't can't screw them out of their money the way people like us are getting screwed. I'd hate to know how much I've paid to FICA, especially knowing I'll never see a dime of it. Social Security was a great thing, and put in place during the Great Depression if I remember correctly. Its time has passed.

so we'll be paying into this new account, similar to how we do it now? but how do we keep the govn hands out of it in the long term if they found there way into b/4 , couldnt they do it again?
The money you put into FICA now would go into your own account. The money you're paying now goes into a gigantic pot, and the people that are 65+ get that money. Then, when we turn 65, in theory the younger generation would be paying for us. Obviously that's not working.

So, we get our own private accounts and collect interest and it works out for everyone in the equations.

I haven't read up that much on it, so I don't know the specifics of when it's to start, etc.

Dang it. If its my money I want it when I want it. I earned it and its mine. :)
I understand and I agree. However, the majority of people aren't responsible enough to set aside $ for their retirement. This way they at least get *their* money back, plus interest, and the rest of us that are responsible won't have to bail out millions of dumbazzes b/c we have a fiscally irresponsible socialistic safety f'n net. Was that a run on sentence? Okay.
