So I am now looking a some slight modifications for the ZX6R and possible X-MAS gifts (other than a new leather jacket) :dthumb: I have been looking at removing the clutter from the rear of the bike, i.e a new underail and integrated tail lights. The only thing I dont like about the integrated tail lights is the lens is clear white, and just looks out of place on my black/yellow bike. IF any integrated tailight owners have any insight on them, I would be much appreciative.

The undertail would clean up the look in the back. right now its the stock undertail with the mud flap cut off. Seen some pictures of the undertail kit and it look pretty nice.

BTW I did a search on this topic to make sure this isnt a :dupe: thread, and didnt find anything.

So, what do you guys think?

I have seen them, almost ran into the back of some idiot with my girl on the back of my bike cause he claimed that when it was "blinking" (though it was the ENTIRE THING) that was his signal for turning. It was like 12pm at night when this happened.

The only drawback that I could see is if there is a state regulation on them. Because I know that many states require the blinkers to be a certain distance away from one another which makes integrated tails not legal.

Clear Alternatives is the only company I have found that makes anything remotely DOT compliant...Their lenses are clear/white. I have one of their integrated Taillights coming on Santa's sleigh for the Bee...

Thats the company I was looking at. They are about $85 or so.

Why don't you just get a tail light integrator... that's what I had on the 9R!

Gas, are you reffering to an assimilator? I am looking into those as well. I wanted to see what the clear tail lights look like on my bike. Just looked at taht link and noticed they sell smoked lenses so they are a little darker....interesting :yesnod:

Thats probably what Im going to end up getting. The clear lenses will match my front turn signals anyway.

What kind of undertail do you recommend? I was thinking Hotbodies but am open for suggestions

I've used Hot Bodies on several bikes. I like them.

You could always go to your local trailer rental (U-Haul) and get the box for adding Trailer lights to cars/trucks. You can use it to integrate your signals for about $10.

I may even still have one I'm not using.

I tried one of those trail integrators and it sucked!

Get the real deal!

Just don't get any targa stuff... I really didn't like the targa on my 9R

do you know if the 9R undertails would fix a 6R? I like some designs that are only offered on the 9R, but we will see. The color question is also at hand. Go yellow or black? The bottom end of my tail is yellow, while the top part of the tail is black. I dont really know which one would look better.

If you're not sure it will match go with black for the color...

As far as the fitment... I'm not sure the same year 9R undertail will fit the 6R... maybe email the company with a question like that.

If your going to eventually paint the whole bike. Color should be trivial. As long as it comes close to matching what you have till the new paint.

Cant help you on the fitment except as G Man stated. Call them. It may be as simple as changing the plug for the tail light or something.

i just picked up my 05 R1 in october. during the winter months, i plan on using the downtime to add a fender eliminator and integrated tail light. i've heard of the clear alternatives, but some people say that their quality isn't the greatest. other manufacturers out there are vfxkits.com and customled at mccoy's. you might want to check there.
