I emailed the guy I am buying the R1 from since I haven't talked to him in months when I took the road trip to go look at the bike. I felt like I needed to keep in touch with him to make sure he knew I was still interested.

Here's the email:

Hey Mark,

How are you doing? I just wanted to keep in touch with you I am still very interested in buying your R1 here shortly. I am trying to find the right time to talk to my boss about a salary increase because some how he skipped over my six month review. We have just been so busy at work traveling to Pittsburgh and Erie putting in major audio, video and theatrical lighting systems I know my boss isn’t in the right mind frame to discuss my salary right now. I can still get approved for the loan with or with out the salary increase I would just like to make it easier and have some more breathing room with another bill coming into effect.

Did you ever post up your OEM SV body plastics? And if so how well did those sell?

Hope to hear from you soon,

Chris

Hi Chris,
Good to hear from you. I was going to e-mail you because I will be putting the bike up for sale pretty soon. No real rush but I'm going top buy a vette next month and I probably don't need both.
My SV is ready to go for the race season and I did get to sell most of the parts (thanks for the advice).
Talk to you soon,
Mark

what year is the R1?
Its a 2003 Liquid Silver (bike in my sig) it has 2,210 miles on it and he's selling it to me for $6500 for anyone else its $7500.
The bike does nothing but sit in his warehouse at work. he has no time for it and he races his SV on the track. This bike isn't even broken in yet. Ahh man I need to jump on this thing.

So when are you going to get it? WHEN MAN!!! WHENNNNNNN?????????
I guess I should call the credit union tomorrow and get the loan process rolling. The best intrest rate I could find was my credit union in ky at 6.25%, my FCU up here was 6.99 %, and USAA was 8.20%.

If I go with $500 cash down and finance $6000 @ 6.25% for 60 months that puts me at $116.70 a month.

If I go with $500 cash down and finance $6000 @ 6.25% for 72 months that puts me at $100.15 a month.

I think I will go with the 60 months tho.

I talked to my dad about it and he started going off about stupid stuff, like I need to pay my $475 taxes I owe first, and how I haven't gotten my salary increase yet. I think I'm just going to buy the R1 anyway, pay my federal taxes this weekend, and pay the state next month. I just won't tell my dad I bought it for a few months.

TVA employees credit gave me 4.75%, didn't you say you go to nashville? They have some there I think and you don't need to be an employee to join now.

I went to Nashville often when I lived in KY, but not anymore now that I'm in PA.
In 2004 when I got my truck I locked in at 4.45%, and when I bought my SV I had 4.70% at my university of ky fcu.

I just checked out my employee Gannett Flemming credit union, their rates weren't all that great either. I think PA is just stupid crazy with the interest rates. I'm just going to use my FCU in ky. Plus I can have stephani set everything up like she has with all my other 14 loans I've had with them. Plus she always gives the gap insurance to me for a $1.00 a month, or lowers the int. rate plus I have it all directly withdrawn every month.

damn dude, thats a steal, i wish i could snag an r1 but i'm gunna stick to an r6 2006, with the misleading tach! :dthumb:
:welcome: alpne04 stick around :twfrox:

all the other 2003 R1's I've looked at are high mileage, have a few scratches and they still want $10k+ for them. NADA rates the bike at $7,045 and I'm sure that's with average milege, but this one is like wayyyyy under avg miles at 2k.

The 06 R6 is still a bad ass bike, even if it has a misleading tach. It would probably deciently keep up with an 03 R1.

OK what should I do....?

I started to reply to the email a few minutes ago and started to think he won't get the email until he goes back to work mon or tues. Should I just call him in the morning instead, and maybe put him on the spot and he'll come down off the price a little? What do you guys think?

here's what i started to write.
Hey Mark,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Wow a new Vette! Are you going with a Z06 or what?
I am getting ready to call my loan officer to get the ball rolling on the R1 loan. It will be tight for me for a little bit, but I’ll make it work. What is the best price you can give me on the R1 so I can relay the information to my loan officer? Still $6500 or has it came down a little?

I wouldn't expect the price to come down at all. That's a great deal and he would be foolish to sale for any less but, you never know till you ask.

but should I call him in the morning and put him on the spot, or just write the email? I not expecting the price to really come down because its a great deal, but I do know money is not really an issue with him he paid cash for the R1 when he bought it brand new in 2003. He owns his own company, so maybe he will bring it down to $6250 or something.

Make sure you have all final figures with loan office and down payment in hand. Then contact him for final negations.
well I have to do the loan over the phone since I am in PA, and the down payment will be in my checking account already. I just need to see what his final price is so I can relay that to the my loan officer so she can work the best numbers she can.

edit>> I just don't want to get approved with too much, or too less then I'd be screwed, or she'd have to redue the loan.

If your 100% sure about the approved loan. Don't worry about it with them. Any extra money can be used for other things or put right back in on first payment.

yeah true, but I was just going to have her cut a bankers check and mail it to me. I'll just give him a call in the morning sometime and see how it goes. I just wonder if my credit union will be open tomorrow since monday is a holiday.

I can almost guarantee it's won't be... if for no other reason except that it'd make your life easier:willy:

anyways:luck: honestly... if it were me... unless he was dropping it to 6 flat... I wouldn't bother trying to talk him down... 250 over the next 60 months is like what... a little over $4 a month... :2cents:
