I know a lot of people think riding is cruising from one watering hole to the next; I've seen sportbikers do it as well as the cruiser crowd:

Do you ride drunk/impaired?

Do you ride after beer or wine with dinner?

or do you hang up the keys when the drinking lamp is lit?

Do you ride with people that drink and ride?

I will admit- I was guilty of riding after hanging in the bar all night - I got away with it for a while... then the inevatable happened- and I don't remember anything except- waking up on the side of the road - bike was crashed up but resting on it's kickstand. 3 officers standing over me, asking me if I was okay. I was- other than my left shoulder was all distorted and throbbing- thought it was broken. Turned out to just be pulled out of socket. long story short- Drinking and riding don't mix- not for me anyway- ever again. Riding is fun enough, I learned the hard way- don't mix the two. I could of been parylized/killed and wouldn't even remember how it happened.

This has been discussed before but its always interesting to hear what others do...

I will drink one or maybe 2 if I eat...and ride. But that is it! PERIOD! And no I won't ride with people who drink anything more than that! I don't want them to bang into me when they go down!

if i drink, i'll have 1 beer and only with a meal and i'll wait 2 hours (i figure double what you're supposed to do with driving)...

I also don't ride tired, scary stuff.

i wouldn't want to ride with someone who was drinking either. i'd rather pay for a taxi for them than let them kill themself/someone else.

I will not drive any vehicle on the street after drinking alcohol. My lively hood depends on me having a drivers license. Its just not worth it for me to chance.

I will ride with somebody that has drank responsibly (1 or 2 with meal) but no drunks PLEAS!

i have only ridden once drunk. and that was 4 years ago.. and every day i think it was the dumbest thing i ever did. specially since i wasnt just a little drunk.. but i was SMASHED! plus the place i was at with some other riding buddys, and my home, were a good 50 miles apart. i did make it home (well. actually i went to an ex's house for a booty call), but i do not rememeber how i even lived. i stopped onthe freeway 2 times to piss *damn vibration from the bike* haha so ever since, if i am riding, i dont drink.

I've rode back from bike night at Hooters buzzed a couple nights.
:disapp: as long as your not trashed and aware it's all good.

I may have one or two at bike night, but that's it. I have seen those Harley guys get f'n trashed and stumble out to their hogs, I've seen a few even sit on the bike and fall over.

Once, I figured I've driven a car drunk and I had only been driving a car for 10 years and riding a bike for 21 years, so I would be fine. I felt like I was on a three wheeler that was missing a wheel. Since then no drinky. BTW if a drunk is on the road I'd rather them be on a bike than in a car, drunk rider is much less dangerous to an innoccent, sober driver with kids than a drunk driver in a 1/2 ton p/u.

The guys i ride with ( the couple of times I have) have all been to rehab and back a few times. They had probs. Fortunalty when they ride, they ride... Not because they care about drinking and riding, but just because they like to ride.

Personally I have left my bike behind 2 or three times, becuase I started drinking, just doest make scense to me to do it.

At my high school reunion earlier last year my friend rode his new R6 to the club. I was like :wtf: are you doing..he said he wasn't going to drink that much. Well he got wasted and he wouldn't leave his bike behind nor would he let anyone else ride his bike home. Long story short I got to ride his bike home. There is another thread in here somewhere in here with all those details....but it's just not worth the risk to ride if you are trashed....I wouldn't let someone ride if they are trashed either.

Never. I absolutely will not ride if I've drank anything. Too much at risk. I'll have a couple and drive my car. But NEVER ride.

Wouldn't ride with anyone who had been either. Sillyness.
:iagree: I dont mind having a drink or two over a few hours, granted I am pretty small so I cant hold much anyway, but while I might drive my car home, as I normally end up driving everyone else home anyway, I would NEVER ride! Even being as new as I am, I can only imagine how horrible that might end up being, especially with all the nutty drivers aournd here in cars who have been doing heavy drinking! Its bad enough during the day! :yikes:
