Me and Crunchie have an appt this morning to get our taxes done at HR Block. We only do a simple return really, not much to itemize or claim, but Im no where near very knowledgable about the IRS and taxes so I dont do it myself. We tried 1 year, and thought we did well, then we had HR Block look at it, and they got us back an additional 1,000.00 dollars!! So ever since then, we just go there. Yeah, they charge a decent fee to do it, but I'd rather have them be responsible to the IRS than us!

Anybody do your own taxes? We thought of trying turbo tax, but havent decided yet.. maybe next year.

Plus normally get a decent amount back, so we do the refund loan usually, and that gets us a check, within 24 hours. I hate loosing the money that they charge, but if we get enuff back, I deal with it. Not sure if we'll do that loan thing this year or not..but either way, the cowl gets orderd this weekend !! woo hoo

I have always done mine myself (since 1993). In 2002 and 2003 I used turbotax to see if I was missing anything and they came out exactly the same (did them by hand first). This year I didn't bother checking in any tax program. If after acquiring my bachelor's in accounting I still don't know how to fill out my own taxes then I don't deserve to ever find a job!

Carrie has been doing ours on her own for the last 5 or so years online. No issues with it either. It only cost $17.50 and gets deposited right in the checking acct. :dthumb:

I've done my own taxes since I was 16, but they've never really been complicated. My mom is an accountant and she taught me how to prepare the returns the very first year. My taxes became slightly more complicated when I began investing, but not too much that I couldn't handle it. Eventually, as I decide to invest in real estate, I will have an accountant handle everything, but that's several years away.

I have always used Turbotax since the day it came out.. Works for me and one year I had um let's say *cough exwife is a stupid beotch cough* tax problems so I had to go to H&R Block to sort it out and then to a CPA because H&R Block had their head up their arse and I was within $20 using Turbotax...

Taxact.com all the way. I used to do it but my wife the banker is much better than i. She went to H&R once and we just couldnt justify the fee. They may get me an extra $50 but they will take that and more to do it.
