Now I want to state for the record, that I'm not some crazy Wings fan but I am from Michigan/Detroit...Douge said:The Leafs were going to own this year. The Wings... well :flush: nuff said.
OMG :iagree: !!!!! And the bad thing is, I LOVE sports! But it shouldn't BE about the money. It should be for the LOVE of the game. *Sighs* BAck in the day, that's ALL it was about. But now it's all about money, and salary caps and which team can accquire the "best" player for a 25 million dollar contract. It's a shame that most players' greed gets the best of them and clouds their true talent.bumblebee said:The money has ruined the sport. Hockey is just the latest in a long line. I used to have season seats for the Blues at the Checkerdome in the 80's I even had season seats for the Sun Devils minor league team in Daytona Beach in the early 90's. After the short season, like with baseball, I dumped them. When millionaires are arguing with billionaires over money and a single game ticket costs 75 bucks with 5 dollar hot dogs and sodas, even parking runs 10 bucks now. This tells me money is all they care about. They don't care about the fans or the cities or pride in the team history, all they care about is money. So I will keep mine and use it to buy 10 dollar minor league or college game tickets. You, the fan, has the ability to dissolve the league. Take away their money. Boycott the TV advertisers, the root of the money problem, and they will stop advertising, and the whole house of cards will collapse. Wouldn't it be funny to hear them scream about prices, trying to raise their families on our salaries?
Really well stated BB. I haven't been to a professional game of any kind in 6 years (ignoring my anniversary gift trip to a Cubs NLCS game). Costs are out of control.bumblebee said:The money has ruined the sport. Hockey is just the latest in a long line. Hell, it's happening to college too. At the Sugar Bowl last year the bands couldn't even play during time outs b/c they had NOKIA commercials on the jumbotrons, etc.
