Yes people. I'm still browsing for my first bike. :readng: I want a good beginners bike and I've been reading on and test riding all kinds of bikes that are 600cc and less. I've ridden a cbr1000 and without a doubt I'm not ready for a full liter bike. Maybe down the line after I get more experience. I've ridden an older 90's Katana and I really liked it. I don't know much about the newer Kats and can't seem to find good sources of information on them which is why I'm turning to TWF. I know there's a model below the Katana 600, the GS500F. If anyone can give their opinions on these two models it would be greatly appreciated.
I have a 07 GS500F and I like it. It's my first bike and has served me well. I bought it for 3 good reasons. Gas Mileage, Cheap and Reliable. I use the bike to commute to and from work. It has saved me lots of money.
I would go GS500E and skip the cheap fairings. You can get the same bike only lighter for $1500 bucks or so and sell it in a year or two for the same price. The F models go down in price for year, but the E models seem to stay about the same. Keep it bone stock, or open up the jets and throw on a vance and hines pipe and call it a day. Mine is about as modded out as you can get and it did hardly anything for power but made the mileage go down quite a bit. My .02c
