Looking at the path you posted Shan, it appears that it is going right thru the heart of where our most active forum members live ! Coincidence ? :yikes:

I saw where it has been moved to Category 5. My roommate was really upset this morning because that is where she is from. Her parents live near the Garden District in the uptown area. She said most of her family has left and her mom works with United Way so they have been extremely busy out there getting ready.

I read where it could get up to 28 ft and 125 mph.

New Orleans hasn't ever had a major hurricane, have they?

I hope anyone in the path stays safe!

i heard that it migh sink new Orleans
latest up dates not looking good. This is going to be the one we tell our grand kids about from whats being said.
I send my thoughts out to thoes who are tring to get out. And my prayer to thoes who just cant. It is sad to see this unfold. With gas prices high and now mostly out down there. I cant imagine what a family with out the funds are going to do. Now the ones that scrape by each week on a budget will risk loosing whats left because of the cost of evacuting. That is a horible thought. There will be aid after the hardship. It sux to think there is this much time to think about how much will be lost. It is just sad. :nonod:

That's what my roommate was upset about. The whole city could be swallowed up by the river :nonod: She had all of her LA books out today looking at pics, haha.

I want to say fourteen below but it changes from place to place. They talked about the worst case scenero for NO if it floods. They would have to break the levee and let the water fall with the river. Then repair the levee and pump the remaining water out. Taking approx 6mo. Then decide whats not contaminated and habitable.
