Keith Code's No Body Steering Bike uses an extra set of bars solidly mounted to the bike's frame to prove that body steering/leaning will not cause the motorcycle to turn.

The argument has raged since the days of the earliest motorcycles: What technique actually steers a motorcycle—body lean or turning the handlebars? This is no light matter. Investigations, in which accidents were reconstructed, found that in the vast majority of rider versus obstacle conflicts, the rider does not even attempt an evasive steering action that could save him. Much of this inaction can be blamed on conflicting information about how the motorcycle steering function works, which can lead to rider panic and uncertainty in emergency situations.
Keith Code, a leading motorcycle riding instructor and founder of the noted California Superbike School, has put a cap on this controversy with his new No Body Steering Bike (No B.S. Bike). This specially designed motorcycle proves that only steering, and not body steering/leaning, turns a bike.

After researching the fundamentals of counter steering—covering the gamut from the Wright brothers and their studies of counter steering and tandem-wheel vehicles, to studies done by Honda Motor Co. in the '70s—Code built the No B.S. Bike, a midsize ZX 6R Kawasaki. Code added an extra set of handlebars, solidly mounted to the frame above the standard bars. Then he added a second, functional throttle to the extra bar assembly so riders could maintain speed while grasping the bars.

More than 100 riders have tested their body steering/leaning methods on the No B.S. Bike, and all have come away with the irrefutable conclusion: Body steering and leaning does not steer a motorcycle. Steering alone turns a bike.

Keith code actually has a few different bikes that he uses as tools. They are very cool. Can't remember the name of the one with the outriggers...twisty, do you remember what it's called? Something like the lean angle bike. But it's definitely a cool tool. And his books are excellent.

Unfortunately, I've taken levels one and two of his class, and had a horrible experience. :( I got more out of reading the books and practicing his theories on my own during track days.

I cant remeber all the names but his " power slide" bike is the sh!t" You can do just about anything on this bike and not fall.

I have heard the same thing for a few other people that his schools arent that great. I like the books tho, there is a ton of info and there ez'er to understand than some of the other books out there.

My husband actually got in an argument with Keith in our trailer because of how poorly his school was run the day I took it (in fairness, my husband had taken his school many times prior and said it was excellent, so he had a good comparison to go by). My husband let him know that his school had gone downhill, and man, we got excellent service the rest of the day. But hands down, the best school I have ever taken is Mike Himmelsbach's school. He's a top notch rider and the BEST instructor I have ever met. He's starting his own deal this year and I'm looking forward to taking his school this season.

So how is it, that a guy that writes a book with all this great info..has crappy track day, track records, if u know what i mean?

If Keith was able to do all of the on-track instruction himself, his school would be excellent. The problem we encountered was with some of the dim wit people they called "instructors." Don't get me wrong, some of them were excellent, and the classroom instruction was excellent, but it's just a reiteration of his books.

oh that sux..u'd think they'd hire instructors that were on the same level as he was, or atleast of the same mind set of him in training future riders as he is.

I've heard that as well, from alot of people. :disapp: Although you really can't totally win though, there will always be someone who has something bad to say about some school.

Yeah but WOS has had some bad expierences with certain track instruction companies.

awesome information... its information like this that can save your ass in a sticky situation. I mean, if you have to act instinctively you want to make sure your instincts have the right information from the get-go.
