Checker tourney Oct. 1-2
MARION -- The 71st Annual 101 Counties Checker Tournament will be held October 1-2 at the Illinois Centre Mall in Marion.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the food court, with the matches following.
Entry fee is $10 and can be paid at the time of registration. Entrants will be divided into A Class (Expert), B Class (Minor) and C Class (Beginners). Play begins promptly at 9:45 a.m. and continues through the evening.
Play will then resume on Sunday, October 2, at exactly 8 a.m., with the winner being determined by 3 p.m. that afternoon.
The public is welcome to attend. Come out and bring the family and watch the players demonstrate the beauty and depth of this game.
