:iagree: with the gear. Everything else I think I did fine. I took it slow so I could get to know my bike before going crazy. LOL

I would have used my HD as the boat anchor it was designed to be and would have bought a sportbike years ago
That's a good one!!!

I wouldn't have wasted my money on cosmetic crap on my old EX500

Well this is not information I really don't expose to people... so I will dawn my
and spill the beans... I would have started on a lower CC bike.... I started riding on this ZX12R and before that I had a Can-Am 250 about 20 years ago... so I would have preferred starting on a 600 or something... but that didn't happen... However I am happy with the bike I have...

I would have had more gear ahead of time.... when I "first" got my bike, the only thing I had was the helmet, which I bought the same time as the bike. Then aquired a few new things in the following months. I also would have taken the MSF class before hand, instead of 2 weeks after buying the bike, lol. As far as riding I think I did a pretty good job.... practiced for quite awile in a parking lot before riding on the street just to get used to the bike and how it handled and reacted and such. Then I just took it slow and went at my own pace until I started getting more and more comfortable. Then after about a week I just started riding everywhere! Overall everything worked out just fine with no problems, so it's all good :)

I'll never forget my first bike, got it on christmas of 1969  or was it '70...A yamaha mini-enduro 60 it was a blast.I learned not to lean over to far while turning hard on cement(the driveway) but a few years later i got my first street bike a suzuki GT 250. On this bike i got my first lesson in riding motorcycles, never exceed your limitations when you get to the point where your not scared of it your gonna bust your :yikes: ss.
I've owned many bikes since then and knew to respect them due to the pain they will cause if you don't.

Dad bought us a Honda Mini-trail 70 in 69 to replace the HD M-65 moped we destroyed. My sister had a HD M-50 that was sweet...3 speed shift on the handlebar...

Well, the one thing I would have done sooner would be BUY A BIKE!!! I wish I had gotten into this sport much younger, but with the requisite knowledge. I wish I had at least 10 years riding experience under my belt, but with all of the available courses, track days etc. that we have today.

I would have bought a Suzuki, oh wait I did. Nevermind I wouldnt change a thing
I wouldn't have bought a Suzuki as my first street bike - oh wait it was cheap and loved to be beat like any Suzuki.. lol..

For real though I would have stayed off the dirt and saved countless broken bones and time in el hospital.. The street is SO much safer..
