Ive got a 78 kz1000 bored to 1075 with .435 cams oversized valves ported and polished head and 34mm mikuni rs flatslides making 130hp at the rear wheel. Oversized swingarm with a 180 tire, now I want to put a new front end on. Ive come across pics of others done with inverted forks but not much info on how to. Anyone ever taken on a project like this before? Oh and before I get the smarta$$ "why dont you just buy a new bike instead" its my baby and she will always have a place in my garage, and wallet.

I'm sure you can get another triple tree and fork combo for your bike.

I don't know where but, maybe new.
Get the neck length and baring sizes and start calling the bone yards.

You will want to get the right length forks also.

A 1/2 inch off can really effect the handling.

The main thing I would think is the problem is the bearing sizes on the steering head and thee front wheel. Not to mention caliper placement..

I think most would use the whole donor set up if its involves to much to use the original. :2cents:
Ya thats what im thinking, but just wondering how different the neck is and if ill probably have to have some new parts machined or if there is a setup that will basically fit with minor mods. I wouldnt mind having an updated suspension and brakes up front.

I thought about doing the same thing to my lightly-modified 79 GS1000. Mine has 35mm forks, probably similar to yours. If you don't mind putting a Suzuki front end on your Kawi, GSX-R front-ends are fairly common. Here's a site of a GSX-R front on a Suzuki GS500 http://www.eurospares.com/munn.htm Looks like the stock fork clamps. Probably enlarged or modified to fit the bigger GSX-R forks.
