Anybody else do this? Just wondering if any of you do this because it seems like a good idea. Ride with friends, and have 2 way comms like cell phone or something and have one of them ride about 1-1/2 miles ahead of you to scout for cops. When he gives the all clear you open it up and catch up to him then its your turn to be look out while he does it. Good way to open it up, and less likely to get nailed with a ticket. But there's still the cagers u have to worry about anyways.

I've done it many times, riding with a few buddies of mine. While this won't protect you that much from the occasional crazy deer or groundhog who decides today is his deathwish day. It definately is a good idea if you wanna ride hard, and are in a known patrolled area.

Never tried that. However, on one road where I open it up, I can see for miles before starting. However, I ride the road slow a couple times to check for any gravel, dead animals, etc. Only problem is there are fields on both sides, so I still have to worry about a live animal wandering onto the road. But, it's flat and straight, so it works, provided there aren't any cars coming the other direction. If I start getting up to speed and notice an oncoming car, I just back down to normal. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Although, there is a nice twisty "old" highway in Illinois that has some awesome sweeping curves. The road has recently been repaved and some of the curves are good for 120+ MPH. I've taken them over 90 and still not had a knee down. A buddy claims to have hit 140, but I can't say if it's true or not. Unfortunately, the highway is patrolled sometimes, so you have to be careful. But if WOS comes down this way, we'll have to try the scouting method.

:here: We used to do that alllll the time. Fun as can be....but now that cops have those random freakin cars, it's hard to tell so you have to be careful. We saw a cop in a frickin Malibu...Learned that the hard way. It's fun but you have to watch for those unmarked cars.
