One thing that I don't worry about is if brands match etc. I just buy what fits best.
Currently have a Joe Rocket Ballistic jacket that I use for street riding just to have padding. Also have a pair of Joe Rocket mesh pants that now have a hole in them and should probably be tossed. For anyone thinking of buying these pants, I would highly recommend AGAINST them. Get at minimum a pair of cordura pants. Yes, I know, you think you will really want the mesh in the summer time. You're wrong because that mesh and the weak lining won't do squat for you if you go down. Protective gear is not meant to keep you cool, its meant to keep your skin intact. Just FYI. I have a pair of ICON gloves for summer riding as well as ICON boots that are good for street riding. HJC helmet is thrown away and I will be buying an Arai in the spring. As for helmet, I strongly suggest trying on different helmets and buying what fits you best, even if it is the most expensive. I tried on MANY helmets, and Arai was the most comfortable and best fitting helmet I tried. However, everyone has different shaped heads and different helmets work better for others.
Now, for track days (and even some street rides), I have a two-piece set of AGV Sport vented leathers that fully zip together. Yes, I know that the vented ones aren't quite as durable as solid leathers, but these work for me. I may buy new later, but I got an awesome deal on these and they fit great. I have Alpinestars boots and back protector for the track and a nice pair of gauntlet style gloves, although I can't remember the brand name.
