New to the site :twfrox: and got a couple of questions, maybe you guys can help me out. I've been riding for a little over 3 yrs., I'm currently running a 2000 katana 600, and I'm looking to bump up to something bigger. I've been looking at 05 Honda 600RR, and Honda 1000RR, I also looked at Suzuki GSXR750. I'm leaning more toward the Hondas but not sure what size to go with. Any info. or advice you could give me would be great.

:welcome: to :twfrox: Jester. :dthumb: You should be jumping into a 600 class next. a 750 or a 1000 is way to much of a jump from a Kat 600. Any new 600 from 2003 to present has alot more balls than an older 600 before 03. A 03 & up gsxr 600, R6, F4I, or 600RR, ZX6(36) would be your best move for an upgrade. :2cents:

:iagree: with him on this one. My friend bought a 2005 Kat for his first bike and offered to trade me it for my R6. I was like, "Are you flucking  ?" Told him he can sell the Kat, I'll sell him the R6 (or he can take over the payments) and I'll go buy an R1. I wish that Yamaha still made the 750. I saw one the other day on Fort Bliss. They should bring it back....

Graf, You haven't mastered the R6 yet, you don't need to be on a R1 yet. Give it atleast 2 years, then you may be ready for the big R1.

I didn't say that I was going to do it. He turned it down since he can't even ride the Kat in the rain, can't start from a stop and many other things. It's funny.

But hey, when Gas Man and Twisty start to spread the wealth with their millions of dollars, like buying Captain Morgan a new R6, I'll see if I can trade back the R6 I have for an R1...

Hey thanks for the input. I'll probably go witht he 600 then, now I just got to decided weather to go with the Suzuki, Or Honda. I like the way the Hondas are set up, and they seem lighter, should be able to throw it into the corners better.

The only thing that I found bad about the Honda was the seat. It was like sitting on a piece of 3/4" plywood. But you can always replace that if you feel it is uncomfortable.

The dealer that I got my Yamaha R6 from was taking 500 off the price of the 600RR when I got the R6. Kinda made me think if I should have said, "I'll take the RR instead." Can't turn back now unless I get rid of the R6.

Anyways, if I didn't manage to get my hands on the R6, the Honda 600RR is the next one that I was gonna get. My friend has the Repsol Honda 1000 and I asked his opinion when I was buying. He said that he would have gone with the Honda (it was 9K when I was originally looking) because he knows people with Hondas that they beat the piss out of and they are still kicking. Unlike others who have Yamahas, Kawis, Zukis that do the same (even the same people who own the Hondas) and have had to rebuild the engine already. He said one guy rebuilt his Kawi engine five times before it had like 20Kmiles on it. :2cents:

since you are not looking at Yamaha I say go for the 600 RR. Seems like a nice bike and I think it comes with a mulch setting or something.. if you really knew what you were doing you'd buy an R6..
:iagree: I like the R6 more than the RR.

Hands down... if you are looking at a 600... First I will say the Kaw 636, then the RR and/or the R6. Forget the GSXR 600... it just isn't there!

If I remember correctly... Didn't the Gixxer fall last place in all the 2005 shootouts?
It did, and in our experience the 04-05 motor simply isn't making the power of the others, BUT ...

That's sort of like lining up a Ferarri, a Porsche, a Mazarati, and a BMW (say, M3) and saying that the M3 sucks :D

True true. The engine was a major drawback in all the decisions on the 600SSs. Besides some others that they found like lack of overall improvements made between like 03 and 05

I have an '04 F4i and have put a few miles on Snakemann's RR and the ergos are different...The clip-ons are on top of the clamps, and your feet feel like they are more under you and the riding position is not so leaning foreward...when you get old and fat like me, ergos get important...

Go to the kitchen and find one of your wife's tupperware bowls. Now place said tupperware bowl on the floor upside down and smash it with your foot. Thats what your @ss will feel like if you ride a RR very long due to the uncomfy seat.

See, I knew that I wasn't the only one that felt that way about the RRs seat. But you can replace it with a Corbin or something else.
