Ok guys, I need your help. I'm looking to get N4S a bunch of sh!t for his bike for Christmas. First of all, would it be cheaper/more practical to go to our local dealer, or get the stuff off the internet? And if so, what sites are the best and easiest to use, and have the most stuff. I only use the computer for a very limited number of things, mostly to talk on here, so I need the best and most efficient sites. Thanks for any help in this, but make it quick, only a few more weeks left. Thanks!!!! :)

you might want to give your local stealer a chance. Do some research about the items you want with their specs and pricing. Then go to the dealer and ask him to compete for the business. Remember pricing is the issue, because the dealer also pays shipping for his products, just like you will. I try to give the local guys all the business I can unless they don't want it.

Well, first off....EBay...second..call me on this girl! I'll help you out...just for you and Matt! Call me and let me know what you're looking for and how much you want to spend. I know a desent amount about this stuff and I'm REALLY good at getting good deals on-line!

Second, Bee, them paying for shipping isn't totally correct. I know that when dealers place orders with Parts Unlimited (which is the #1 MC aftermarket parts distributer) as long as the order hits a certain size or amount, they pay NO S&H!! NONE!! I know because the dealer where I got my bike at use to only order Parts Unlimited orders when they got enough. Never was a problem in the summer but in the winter, you would wait a bit longer!

I've had success doing the internet search and brining the printouts into the local stores. A lot of the time the local shops want the business and their margins are big enough they can match the online stores and still make a profit.

I have had it work the other way. I've brought in printouts and the local shop tells me they can't match it. Either way I win, because I know I'm getting it for that price. And, you need the local shop anyway (most of the time) to try on sizes.

What are you thinking of doing to his bike. Theres not a whole lot that can be done really to a Kat. Some of the mods that Matt has looked at on other forums like Katriders, some of those mods are not cheap at all. Now if it were a R6 or gixxer there would be more to do to it. What kind of things do you have in mind??

Well, as far as the jacket, definitely check newenough.com Also, don't order too far out from Christmas if you aren't sure about the size. Their policy only allows for a full refund or exchange within (I think) two weeks. And DON'T cut off any tags, because they will not give much of a refund without tags on it. Have him make sure it fits before cutting off any tags.

Also, check out this thread for info on "riding jeans". Make sure you scroll down to find out about other brands as well. http://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=930

As for guages, check this thread: http://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=637&highlight=illum*

I have a good friend that owns a leather store in Camp Hill and will give me a good deal on the leather jacket for him. He has a huge selection in colors and all. Depending on how much you want to spend depends on how many of these items you can get. Matt and I have talked about the finder eliminator kits before and we can get the parts to do this from a hardware store and do it cheaper. The clear signals, grips, and foot pegs can all be picked up at Action for a good price. Hope this helps out. If not just call me and I'll tell you more if needed. :)

I did mine for almost no cost at all. Just cut it off, put a couple "L" brackets on to hold the license plate, bought smaller turn signals, drilled holes in the tail sections and mounted the turn signals on both sides. Worked out great, and VERY cheap.

Well, I just talked to Gasman tonight, and he gave me a few more ideas that I'm really liking. I'm really liking the clear turn signals on the front, the fender eliminator, and the jacket, if I could do the fender thing for cheaper than $60, I'd also go with the gauges. I think all those combined would make a pretty decent Christmas, huh? Anyways, DJ, I was wondering if, when I pick up Jesse tomorrow (Thanksgiving Eve) if maybe you could spare an hour and maybe you could drive out to Action with me to look at some stuff. Give me a call tomorrow, well I guess technically later today, after Matt drops Jesse off, and let me know. Thanks! :D
