New Jersey Mom Nabs Scoflaws With Camera

GLASSBORO, N.J. -- She's not a police officer, but Maryann Cottrell has been enforcing New Jersey's handicapped parking laws anyway.

The 53-year-old woman has reported nearly 300 motorists for illegally parking in handicapped spots, by using her tiny camera to take pictures.

State law requires police and prosecutors to take the people Cottrell reports to court.

So far, she's nabbed two Philadelphia Eagles football players, mail trucks and so many Rowan University students that the college has barred her from campus.

Cottrell says she's sensitive to the handicapped parking issue because her 20-year-old daughter has autism and a variety of physical ailments.

Cottrell says she's sensitive to the handicapped parking issue because her 20-year-old daughter has autism and a variety of physical ailments.

She should register for one class and then they have to let her on campus. She should file a Federal complaint under ADA that the College is refusing to act and is in a "conspiracy" with students to violate the law by refusing to allow her to turn the violaters in...

i think people should be issued honorary handicapped permits if they park in the handicapped spots, because they are just PATHETIC! it's only a few more steps for pete's sake. laziness is not a handicap! way to go lady, keep up the good work.

PS i hate people that toss butts out the window too. especially when they do it waiting to pick their child up at my daughter's elementary school. :wtf: don't they have ashtrays in their car?!

they do, but then they would have to empty it. Best answer i hear from friends it that they dont want their car to smell like smoke...... Because smoking in their car doesnt make the car smell like smoke apparently. It takes everything i have not to pick the butt up and throw it back through the window.

I too think its disgusting to see the amount of cigarette butts tossed in the curbs and stuff. However many new vehicles do not come with ash trays. I know my new car did not.
BUt personally if your throwing butts out the window you should receive a fine for littering.

Im not a handiman supporter either.Everytime I see one of those blue stickers, the person is about 200 pounds overweight. Eat some fruits beoch.....Just cause your a hippo dont mean you get to park any closer. Fat f)cks... They should make these blimps park as far as possible to burn some of the super size value meal off.:angelhap:

yeah, it is kinda silly that ashtrays are now an option in new cars. but i would think that if you are a smoker you'd pay the extra $$ to get an ashtray installed for your convenience. i'm not just picking on smokers though, i hate anyone that throws anything out of their window. it just goes back to the whole laziness thing...but i am getting off topic now.

I'm with ya Twisty. Being fat isn't a reason for a handicap sticker! They need to have fat people parking in the very back of the lot... to help them get more exercise.

Plus they should be allowed to use elevators... too much hazard to other people and they need to use the stairs... but maybe I'm a cruel bastard...
