Hey everyone, I know, long time not been around (been really busy at work and getting used by a girl, so you know how that is!)


So now that I once again have nothing/nobody to spend my money on but myself, I'm thinking about modding out the R6 cause I can't afford the litre bike just yet.

I already switched out the front sprocket, one tooth down. What else for like speed and performance? I was thinking about lighter wheels to shave weight which I figure will make it go a bit quicker due to the less weight? Anything else? If possible, recommend an order of upgrades...

Get some steal braded break lines. At least a slip on pipe, PIE. The R6 has a pretty good suspension but you can always get custom springs and new valving for the front and rear. After that, Things get real expensive like cams and a big bore kit.

Brake lines aren't expesive, I was thinking about them and like "waved rotors". Anyone know of good pads to put on to improve braking?

As for the pipe, I was going to probably put on an Arata (courtsey of Speedwerks) full exhaust kit and a powercommander.

I was looking at replacing the suspension with all Ohlins, and possibly a GPR or Ohlins dampner.

I was also looking at getting either "Blackstone Tek Carbon Fiber wheels" or the "Marchesini magnesium wheels"

Whatcha think?

And what about more hp???

you want HP.... slide stops, V-stacks, BMC race filter, 520 chain conversion, full race exhaust, and power commander.

Wheels would be the least priority for me. I forgot the Damper. That should be pretty high on the list.

But the wheels would lessen the weight of the bike, which theoretically, should make it go a little faster, right or wrong?

My friend with his 04 R6 has done all this and made a really big difference in HP.

That's what I was looking at getting but the dealer by me has sold all the ones that he's allotted by Yamaha for the year already and I'm not paying for the LE!

But then I was thinking about the RC51 and/or the 1000RR but Honda didn't want to finance me for anything over $7K which I think is kinda weird since Yamaha has financed me for $21K. And I know I can buy the R1 and still have some cash left on the financing, but it's stupid to have two bikes. But there are two people that want to buy it, just don't think they want to take over payments on it though.

Ok... I'm with most of these guys but in different order...

No to the wheels... Jeeps is right.

Get a dampner FIRST! I suggest the Scotts. Plus later if you upgrade the bike you can use it on that bike, regardless of what that is.

Arata is a good exhaust... go with that!

You want power... after the exhaust..get a PCIII.

The suspension on your bike is really good. But you could do some minor mods to it. First off get the oil changed. Perhaps look into different weight oils, different springs or valves. I don't see your skill level (being a newbie) being high enough to validate spending the kind of cash on a full out Ohlins setup. :2cents:

Brakes... SS brake lines first, with synthetic fluid, and a set of sintered brake pads. That will provide more stopping than most can handle. You aren't racing it so the wave rotors would be for nothing but looks.

I'm in El Paso, Texas. It's like the extreme west, right next to New Mexico, you'd have to go down I25, then east on I10 and you'll pass right through it.

Yea dude wheels arent cheap. For the price of the lightweight wheels you could get a full exhaust and a PCIII and get more out of that

Hmmm. I plan on driving there and if I do go through it we'll have to meet up and ride (if my bike is out of the shop by then). If not I'll just ride yours. J/K. I'll PM you when i know for sure.
