State Police say a Seaside motorcyclist died after striking an elk on U-S 101 at Warrenton and then was run over by another vehicle.WARRENTON, Ore. (AP) -

Fifty-year-old Darrell Lyons was headed south when he struck the elk on Tuesday evening as the elk tried to cross the highway.

Lyons hit the elk and fell to the highway, then was struck by a pickup.

Lyons, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

The elk apparently continued into the brush.
