I picked up my 2003 Yamaha YZF-R1 today! After a long wait it was well worth it.
The bike was already lowered for me by the time I got there this afternoon. However I think I still need to tweek the suspension some. I got a lot of accessories with the bike (Yamaha R1 cover, solo cowl, original manual, tool kit, 2 original keys, Yamaha Sportline rear stand, and original rear fender)

The original manual was left outside one night in the rain so it's beat up pretty good, the guy offered to buy me a new one, but he said he would give me the Sportline rear stand for free if I wouldn't worry about it, so I agreed to that!

Of course I had problems at the DMV. My original plan was to get the bike tomorrow so the proof of insurance has tomorrow's date on it. I called to get the date changed for today however the insurance company said it will take 24 hours for that to happen, so I will have to register it tomorrow.

I have a few pics I snapped today. I didn't get too many because it was already dark by the time I got home. I haven't even unloaded the bike out of the truck yet, I'll do that tomorrow. I have not rode the bike yet. There was snow all over the ground where I picked up the bike and I didn't want to take a chance of anything happening. I will take it out for a spin tomorrow.

This $6500 cash paid for the R1

This is the first pic I took of the bike as soon as I got there to pick it up!

I pulled off the interstate so I can take a few pictures because it was going to be to dark by the time I got home.

Look at that mileage! That's awesome for a 3 year old bike!!!

These are the accessories I got with the bike.

More pics to come tomorrow.

Glad you finally got the bike. I can't believe the insurance company couldn't change a date for you. It's really not that hard. As long as they aren't backdating anything, it's not a problem. Your agent could have easily gone into the system and set your effective date to today without an issue. What company do you use?

The lady at the DMV didn't think they would change the date. If I were already a previous policy holder they could have gotten me the changed date.

Oh and GM...I haven't posted a pic in a thread in so long since we went to the approval thing I almost forgot how! i always use manage attachements so I don't have to wait!

2300 Miles. You Fin Stole That Bike For 6500
oh yeah! and Mark knew how how much this bike was worth too! He said I really helped him out when I sold him those SV parts for his race bike, so he said he really wanted to return the favor and help me out.

The funny thing is I hadn't paid Mark for the R1 yet, so we get to the DMV and the lady asks how much we are writing this bike up for, Mark looks at me, and I look at him like ahhhh $4000 right, and he said yeah that's what it is. Then he said I need to be paid! So I take out the wod of cash and he says ok $4000 for the bike, then $2500 for the "raceing gear right? " I said YUP!
So mark counts out his cash, and the DMV lady wrote out $4,000 on the back of the title and notorized it. That will save a lot of $ on the taxes. Kinda sucks because I don't think she cared, I could have said $2000 and would have been ok.

I will for sure keep oil in it. My SV always had oil in it, I'm just glad this one isn't a V-twin.

Maybe one day this summer we will ride together but you have to take it easy on me. I only have the first gen R1 motor.
We can do that since you are right up the road from me. Ahh that FZ1 will hang with the R1. :dthumb:

Mark did warn me to be careful on this thing. He said no clutching wheelies is needed. 1st gear will flip ya with blip of throttle, 2nd gear with a little blip will throw the front end up like its nothing, and 3rd at 85 mph with a blip of the throttle will still toss the front wheel up in the air like nothin.:yikes:
