Neebie! Need help with buying a bike

Okay I"d like the opinion of some people before I go buy a bike. I've never really rode a bike before. I have only rode a few times and they were all dirt bikes. I'm looking to buy a bike but have no idea what kind of bike. Whats a good beginner sportbike? I'm looking for something thats sporty but also easy to ride for a first rider.

2006 yamaha YZF600R
2006 kawasaki ZZR600
2006 Suzuki Katana 750

are these good beginner bikes or should I be looking for somthing else?

are bikes as reliable as cars?
Whats the most reliable brand outta these sportbikes?

Someone's help would be much appreciated.

From that list the 2006 Kawasaki ZZR600, 2006 Suzuki Katana 750 are the only ones I would consider. With that said. I recommend a used (you dont want to bust up a new bike when you drop it) Ninja 250R or the 500R, 650R, Suzuki GS500F, SV 650 or SV650S. Plus browse through our beginners corner for nomaures threads on this subject.

well i'm sure i don't wanna drop my bike but does dropping the bike happen often? I've heard the saying, its not a matter of IF but WHEN.
Iv heard guys say they have never done it but I think there full of it. I've been ridding sense 1987 and couldn't tell you how many times I've dropped one in the driveway or parking lot. It just happens sometimes.:cursin: What I was talking about most was the inevitable crash that a select few are lucky enough to miss out on for the first few years. Even fewer have never crashed at all if they actually log any real miles. Its way cheaper to insure an older bike plus if you have a hard crash. You don't loess as much.:2cents:

I would like to direct you to this thread as well. Click here
