whats up guys, i have a 2005 kawisaki ninja zx-6r 636, i removed the "ninja stickers, the zx-6r stickers" and removed one of the "kawisaki" stickers on the tank, only to find out that the sticker is kinda thick and now there seems to be an area where the sticker used to be that is lower then the clear coat... does that make sence?

help please, am I just feeling the outer part of the stickey resedue, or is it the clear coat that was pushed against the kawisaki sticker?

I think these boys are right... aboue every sportbike has the gas tank sticker under the clear coat.

Goo Gone is what you want to get rid of the sticky residue from stickers. It isn't abrasive to paint and does the job well!

the sticker didnt feel like it was under the clear coat, but if it was i guess ill be re-painting the bike,uhhh

well, the sticker came off very easily and didnt seem to have a clear coat over the sticker just because when i was peeling the sticker, if it was clearcoated, the sticker would have peeled some of the clear coat off of the tank, the tank now has a identical indentation of the kawisaki sticker. lol

The stickers on my Kawi are not clear-coated, however, I talked with a friend of mine who makes vinyl graphics for cars; he told me that many of the adhesives used will pull some of the solvents out of the paints used, causing the affected area to shrink, making a depression. If it concerns you, you can (carefully) wet sand the edges with first 400 grit, then 600 grit, and finally 1000 grit, to blend the areas out, finishing with fine (white) rubbing compound, and then a coat of wax.

Do NOT use a lot of pressure...factory clearcoat jobs are notoriously thin...all you are trying to do is feather the edges of the affected area...if you see color on the wet or dry, STOP SANDING...you've gone too far!!!!!!

They are 3D and you can order them from Kaw. They have used them a few times over the years.

This would be the best attempt to fixing the paint but, I wouldn't try it unless you have some experience with auto painting. I would recommend paying somebody that knows how (auto Body repair shop) before messing up the rest of the tank.

i dont know if its worth it to have it wet sanded, i think i will just put the new sticker on the bike or i will have a buddy of mine paint the tank cover.

yeah, it was clear coat that came off with the kawi stickers on the tank. i am going to put a yoshi exaust sticker over the outline of the kawi sticker or have my buddy wet sand the tank so it isnt to noticable.
