I talked to my dad earlier today and he said he ordered a new 2006 Honda Goldwing with Navigation package and comfort package yesterday.

I knew he was going to order one sooner or later because my mom has been on his case for the last 3 years about getting one. She doesn't like riding on the back of the Intruder just uncomfortable I guess.

My dad offered me his Intruder for $2000. I originally told him no, but now that I am thinking about it I wouldn't mind having it just to have it. This 95 intruder is in PERFECT condition always garage kept...I don't even think there is a scratch on it. It's only got 12k miles on it. I just can't bring myself to get a cruiser at this young age. I am still getting the R1 regardless, but I can't decide if I should buy that intruder. It would be no loan and no full coverage insurance just liability. Tuff decidion.....

When I lived near my parents my older bro and I would go out riding with my dad. I always got tired of going so slow in the twistys so I would pass him, then my older bro would try to keep up on his SV650S....he just couldn't keep up. I would always wheelie by both of them out on a back road somewhere and my older bro would always give me the finger.

for the money....
GET IT! Twisty will dissagree but hes a cranky old man. Think aobut how much cheaper itll be to use it for days u wanan cruise slow, or ride and the weather is bad.....Tires will last long time, and u wont have to worry aobut tickets and crap cuz u wont even wanna go fast on it. Insurance should be cheap enough to rack up the miles on its motor and save the new R1's motor for performance, Tune ups are cheap on a Vtwin too, much less to do it once in a while, thats if it ever even needs a valve adjustment. I used my lil bike to save mileso n the big bike till ifrogt to change address with DMV and INS and was ognnah ave to pay a 250$ fine to reinstate registration and jsut turned in its plates.

SAVE CASH AND TIME WITH R1 MAINTANANCE AND GET THE INTRUDER..plus the R! of course

Which Intruder is that? 800 or 1400?

I would have thought the old man would give you a better deal no matter what the size. Short of knowing every detail about that bike. I think you can fide a better deal.

It's the 800. I checked out the value on NADA guide Low Retail is $1455 and Average retail is $1910.00. He does have a few add on's like the windscreen and chrome radiator cover. It does have low mileage on it for a 1995. On top of all that he said he's not going to just "give" it away.

I really don't want a cruiser anyway. He offered it to my older bro but he turned it down too. He wants a new GSXR, and I want my R1. We are just too young to be riding a cruiser I guess. I just thought about taking the intruder just to have it. As far as the details go its in perfect condition, just tuned up by suzuki before winter, and he hardly rides it most of the times it sits in the garage all the time.

Buy it and sell it for more.
I thought about that too! I just don't know if I could make more than what the blue book is on it.

If I bought it, that would just set me back further from buying the R1 I think.
Although I won't take out a loan on the intruder I'd just pay him when ever I got some extra money sitting around and mail it to him. Then I would have insurance on it, which could be more money to put down on the R1.

well...my father has a 2003 HD Heritage Softail Anniversary Ed. and I have an 05 gixxer 600....Ive riden with him once so far....but it was short lived because of the cold and that he doesnt really take it out for the winter months AT ALL.

come spring time though...I will be joining him and his two friends with HDs also to go out east for lunch/dinner on fridays....

...who gives a ****.....if its you dad or whatever...just ride. screw anyone who makes a comment. I doubt they care anyway.

F that. If it's gonna put off buyimg th R1, don't do it. I certainly wouldn't!!
I think that's what it's coming down to. I'd rather get the R1 before anything. All I need to do is some how come up with the confidence to talk to my boss this week about a pay raise I was suppose to get 2 months ago. I just hope he's not in a pissy mood. If he gives me the pay raise then the R1 will be in the back of my truck in a few weeks.

I know this probably sounds weird, but i say get it. I mean c'mon, you only have one dad. It would be alot easier/comfortable for you to cruise around with him on the cruiser, without putting all the miles on the new r1. You know your dad is going to want to ride the goldwing everywhere when it comes in and even though the r1 is pretty comfortable, its still not anything like a cruiser. :2cents:
