I saw jeeps thread about paint schemes for his GSXR and figured why not create one (without the poll) for my 7R. I attached three possible color combinations I am considering. My paint skills are not that great and the colors are not exact in their representation. I have been going back and forth between a copper color or dark gray but I really want something that compliments the black frame and wheels. I will also be installing decals but not necessarily orientated as you see in my photochops with the exception of the ZX-7R decal. So post-up your opinions, criticisms, or suggestions of other paint schemes.....

My 7 is currently a dark blue with no decals and it will be undergoing paint in the next few weeks.

The gray almost looks like a primer with decals...Go with something exotic like lime green and yellow, or neon orange and red or blue...If you're gonna custom, make it stand out...
Unfortunately, custom color means more $$$. My funding for all my winter mods won't allow for the extra dough.

if the gray is too dark i don't think it will compliment the black frame you speak of. it would make the bike look heavy. a nice nickel or gunmetal gray would be cool.
Do you have examples of that color? Is that pretty close to silver or a light gray?

I attached pics of the actual colors I am considering. The frame of the RVT is pretty close in color to my 7.

that looks like a pretty nice gray. that it the gunmetal color i had in my head. that will look pretty good. so i guess we had the same thing in mind, just called it something different. the copper is nice too. you can't go wrong with either one. :dthumb:

looks good with red and grey.. the Copper is too commn looking. But make sure the Grey is nice and glossy, lots of clear on top, cuz i agree the flatter grey looks cheap and like its not finished and just a primer.

Clear coat and as detailed a grey/silver as you can budget.

Thanks for your opinions. I was leaning towards the gray/red combination and you guys have pretty much sealed the deal. The gray, as seen in the pic, is the hue I want but it will be glossy. I wasn't interested in doing a flat, matte, or primer type paint job. I'll be sure to post pics once the bike is completed.

Back from paint

I picked up my parts from the shop yesterday and I am very pleased with the job. I told the shop owner that I wanted a gun metal gray, not to dark and not to light. His painter created a great pearl/gray shade. I attached a few pics of the fender. I'll be adding more quality pics once I get the bike back together.
