.....and im a bigger guy(6'2" and about 235lbs)...i have read up alot on what are good bikes to start on and i have been considering a sv650.....but i really want a gsxr 600.....now is me being a bigger guy make the power of the gixxer less noticeable? is it easier for me to just start out on a gixxer then say a 150lb guy....

.the only reason i ask is cuz i dont like the idea of buying an sv then in a few months or years depending on how long it takes me to get comfortable with a bike to then sell it to get a gixxer...if i can control myself and go easy and take my time is a 600 an ok bike to start on....

im no squid i dont plan on stunting or even driving fast....just love the gixxers and want the 600....ill have plenty of gear and im confident that i can handle a powerful bike if i just try...im very mature for my age(20) and just need some help....

ill take all advice and will listen too it...remember i am considering an sv so i wont get upset if you guys/gals think that it is best to start there...thanks for the help/advice!

I have known several bigger guys who ride the GSXR 600 no problem.. I am like 6'-1" 200 lbs and the R6 hauls me around no problem.. I ride 2 up and add 130-140 lbs and still no worries so I don't think 35 lbs would be an issue.. The only issue is tucking in may not exactly be comfortable for you due to height, etc.

There are guys in that picture? I'm sorry, but all I see is a blur around the pink center of that pic.

Oh, and to answer this guys question, it all depends. ;) Seriously, it really depends on the person. Personally, I would start out smaller and used so that you don't really lose much, if any, money when you go to sell the bike down the road. Plus, the advantage to starting used is that you lose less if you total the bike and parts are easier to find after you drop it and scratch or crack the plastic, case covers, bars, mirrors, etc. I know ME, and know that I personally needed to start small. I started on a Katana 600, which anyone who knows anything about bikes can tell you that's NOTHING like a gsxr 600.

Regardless of what bike you choose, please remember this: If you can't afford to buy the proper FULL gear first, then you can't afford to buy the bike.

If you have some riding under your belt get the new GSXR . If you dont you might want to get a 2000 ish 600 . They are good to learn on & have good power .Also in a year or so you can sell it for almost what you bought 4 . Also if your new You are going to have a drop or two so a used bike is good to start on .. :2cents:

A new rider can get a 1000 if they want it.
A new rider can be safe on a 1000 if they want to be.

Accidents happen, just ask a new rider Busa owner on this forum.

Find a used GSXR 600 and be happy & safe! :2cents:
