Ahh those vids make me mis my 2000 GTI VR6 so much....:damn: that thing was fully loaded, real wood grain accents, heated leather seats, rain sensing wind sheild wipers, steering control that wouldn't let you slip off the road...oh yeah and the best part... F%^king fast!!!!

^^what happend to it?

I'm a veedub enthusiast. I've owned...4vws, 1 audi, and a bmw. Right now I have a 94 jetta gls with a few mods, and an a4 quattro 1.8t.
any Vdub or german vehicle owner would understand!
I traded the GTI VR6 in for my truck. A Vdub is very expensive to get serviced and my warranty was about up. Everytime that car went in for service the bill was over $500. so I thought I made a good choice, but :damn: it mis her. Besides a truck is more practical for hauling the bike and other uses. I still have the firebird but that doesn't compare to the vdub.

there's a story behind the firebird, and that's why I couldn't get rid of it.

My dad ordered the firebird brand new in 94, then when I got my license my dad ordered a 99 firebird and gave me the 94. I drove that car thru high school and gave it pure hell. When my little bro got his license I gave the firebird to him and he gave it pure hell. (However the car still looks really good for some reason!) My little brother got a Grand Prix 2 years ago and he thought the 94 firebird had a blown valve cover gasket, so my dad told me I can have the car again if I want to fix it, so i transferred the car into my name. I fixed it and it turns out it was the timing chain cover gasket.

Well now the car has 241,500 miles exactly still looks excellent, but I think the valve cover gasket needs to be replaced because I have a little oil around the edges, the damn car is only getting 10 mpg now too. I'll just keep her till the wheels fall off. Oh yeah and now I'm having shifting problems with it...I think it's the torque converter. I still drive it everyday, and let the truck sit.

Well sounds like you are getting your Dads moneys worth, 241k damn!!!
yeah it's amazing and still counting! yet the engine is still running so smooth...I don't know what GM did with this engine but man O man it's amazing. All I do is change the oil...yeah stuff that spins has been replaced alternators, water pumps, power steering pumps....but over all that's going to happen anyway.

well you've defenatly lucked out... cause 99% of GM motors won't run that long with that little done to them... you've usually gotta go with an import to get that kind of reliablity... hence I drive a Toyota ;)

I sold it for $2,500!... I bought it with 250K for $500 7 years earlier... just needed a new set of tires, and a new heater... good investment!

WOW! a lot of people tell me I should sell the firebird for $2,000 or whatever I can get out of it, but it's worth for than $2,000 to me...so I just assume to keep it. Hell it's got 4 brand new tires on with less that 1500 miles I think.

yeah I wished now I hadn't sold it... I'm happy with my 92... but that 79 just took what ever I put it through... I didn't care about dents or anything... and drove it accordingly... but the damn thing just kept going... my friends in highschool knicknamed it the rabit... after the energizer bunny... they started calling it bunny... but I put a stop to THAT really quick:bash:
